Handle Bars

hey sinpieces, any idea which ones (crossroads) that I would have to order for my XB9SX? Just wondering, they look phat as hell..

(choking self for saying "phat")...:p

Has anyone ever tried just straight bars?

I basically want the lowest rise and least pullback possible. All of the discussions above seem to be splitting hairs with the exception of CR or clipons which I'm not interested in.

i think a drag bar would really crank your wrists after a short ride but thats just me. ive seen a few XBs with drag bars, just looks uncomfortable to ride.

cant remember if i posted before but... have you thought about the Azonic CR-Low bars? 7/8" to fit stock clamp, pretty low rise and barely any pullback. i have a set for sale if interested. these were my favorite until i went with a larger clamp and fat bar.

(not my bike)

thanks alot typeone..yeah I'm really liking those.. do you know how wide they are? [email protected] if you wanna send me pricing...

And you think the drag bar would crank the wrist because you would have more weight on it? This is my first bike so I really don't have much experience.. Kinda being gay about the whole thing and focusing on looks.

i trimmed them ~1" off each side to work perfectly with the stock cables. i dont remember off hand how wide they are but i can measure for you. they look exactly like the set pictured except i 'brushed' the finish.

drag bar will put odd pressure on your wrists when you ride the bike on twisty, sport riding roads. even dirt bars with little sweep can cramp your wrists. i think the sweep on the CR Low and Carmichael bends is as far as i would go if you plan to ride the bike in a sport fashion (which i hope you do!) :) OK to focus on looks, but you should still be able to hone your skills on the bike rather than hamper them.

yeah, i'll email you more detail. they're just sitting on the shelf since i no longer use a stock clamp.

i've been looking for the crossroads bars and cant find any where, anyone gotta link.

also Sin. have you any pics with you on bike wouldnt mind seeing the stance of the rider with the bar

cheers Mark

Hi Fido,

yes yes, you go and buy the 0 degree bars from Al and American sportbike. The - 7 degree bars are too steep in my opinion, go for 0 degree version. The 9er or the 12er doesn't matter. Same fitting. Call Al, he is nice and knows a great deal of things. Mine are the alu versions, i went on and had them gold anodised. The latest is black/ silver and very nice for your setup. The base plate is avaible in black, the handles in natural alu (silver). Get yourself the CRG split lane LS mirrors to go along. They are freaking great - you won't regret it[up]
Don't forget to buy the needed CRG adapters also, and see to it to get left/right mirrors so that you won't end up with two lefties (as a dude i know of did)

Try this ride and say you don't love it:D

Give me a howler if you went for it!

cheers, looks good. will they fit SS without any modification to wires. also you said you have both 0 and 7 degree bars. how do they feel different. is it a bit cramped when turning in with the 7 degree ones. which feels more natural ??

like the ti force pipe

Well, i don't know for sure it'll fit with SS long.
I believe it does!
But, as mentioned. Call Al at American sportbike and that question will be sorted out quick.
Are you looking for the Crossroads or think you do, you gotta talk to him anyway. He is now, the only reseller of the Crossroads bars. He is nice and knows alot so go on, call him.
The quality of the Crossroads are very good.

Regarding - 7 degree bars VS 0 degree.
- 7 degree, are angled more down, more steep so to say. It is putting more stress at your neck and shoulders as the cockpitting get more aggressive. It is probably ok if you go full speed all the time! If you do ride somewhat normal street riding, the 0 degree is more nice. Even this (0 degree) will put you lower than anykind of "up- bar". The handling is very close to XB/r models. In my opinion, the Crossroads bar are higher quality than original XB/r bar. There are even more nice clip-ons. But they cost 3 times and more as much. The Crossroads are offering you what you ask for, in both handling and quality. This is a very good product, i promisse you!

Use a steering damper and you can hit full speed at fifth gear without wobble (just press chest down and hit it). Only thing missing now, is a slipper clutch. Then you could ride true aggro, going redline area all the time (if you are up for it:)

Concerning wires, it is tight at some points, but not that it cause problems. I have no new wires or any modifications done to make it fit. It works as you want it to. Your questions are probably (again) better answered by Al. Since you got the SS long and i, the S model. I believe it'll work out just as good for you as for me. But i can't promisse that.
I got 3 bars laying around. None did as much as the Crossroads. I think you will like it when it is on.

Let me know where you'll go with the bike.

Hey Typeone,

I know this thread is old but just wondering if you ended up selling those bars? The Azonic CR-lows, I believe is what you called them. I want one for my XB9SL.

i just got done putting the xbr upper clamp on my 12s tonight....definitly not a bolt on mod. i had to mill the key hole ring flat, and drill and tap the clamp 4" on center to mount the headlight/gauge shroud, and shave a little on the one side of the shroud to clear the bar being the shroud isnt semetrical to each side (there shaped different), but after 4hrs of f*ing around i got it to work like factory and the bar position feels better.

hi everybody.
I have a lot of doubts installing my new handle bar on my buell xb9sx.
The handlebar i have bought is a DRIVEN carbon bar 803mm width and i have the rizoma risers.
I don t want to make any changements on the cables so, can someone please tell me if i have to cut the handlebar on the sides and how much?
Also i was wondering: how i will make the hole on the handlebar? (maybe a dremel can be ok)and where i have exactely to drill the holes?
Please, if someone has already installed the driven carbon handlebar, give me an help.
Thanks a lot

Here is a place I have bought parts from my old RD350 motorcycle. They sell clubman bars among other things. Prices are from $20 to $45, some come in black and chrome.

Whats the stock bar specs for the xb9?

Also has anyone run these? LSL Street Bars High

These r protaper se. I love em. A little lower/ wider but I used 1" risers wich make them a hair taller then stock.
