sounds like you have your mind already made up. you just need someone else to agree with you. so sell the bike let someone else worry about parting it out. take the money and buy a new bike. if your not willing to work on the trans yourself then you sure the hell are not going to want to change the motor yourself. you might make more money parting it out but that will take time that you clearly said you didn't have. so sell, sell, sell.

Fix it yourself and learn something. Transmissions on bikes are simple, there are ample sources on this site if you get in trouble and even if you have to replace every part in your transmission then you'll still only be out about a grand. Plus when something else breaks, which WILL happen, you won't be as bummed or scared about working on it.
