My buddy and I are looking to tour across the United States on our Buells and we prefer to sleep in hammocks. Problem is not everywhere has trees. While browsing for a solution I stumbled across this and thought why not do it with motorcycles. Has anyone done it or have an opinion? Think I'm gonna fall on my back?

How do 2 guys on 2 bikes do that without sharing one romantic hammock? To each their own, but I think a sleeping bag has proven itself to be the most handy option. After all, even without trees, there will always be ground:up:

Haha, it's still pretty close to another guy who hasn't showered in days. If your friends are anything like my friends... I'd want my own room:eagerness:

Even if it can hold 400(?) pounds of restless dudes, I think the attachment to a Buell would make them too low, and your butt would be on the ground anyway.
It's also a lot of work to park the bikes perfectly apart, tie them down, and not be able to go anywhere in an emergency, until you undo all that contraption.

Is there a tubing/frame thing you could use and break down for transport? I googled "portable hammock"

I set it up today using one tree and my bike and it was pretty easy to judge the distance needed. Probably because I set up the hammock frequently. Also the straps were at equal heights from the ground and my but never made contact with the ground. I wish renting a room was an option but I can hardly afford the trip as it is. And as far as the quick disconnect goes in case of emergency I always have my handy knife. I'll keep this thread updated on my progress either good or bad but after today's success I'm pretty sure it's going to work. And at the very least I know I can set up with only one tree or post.
