Hawk Performance Mufflers!!!

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I've been sort of worried about the loudness of my Hawk until yesterday while out riding and a cop pulled next to me at a traffic light and gave me a thumbs up and said my bike sounded awesome ! WHEW, got nervous at first !

Did you throw a rev at him after that? ;)

here is my HAWK, single 3 inch heavy duty slash cut tip, love it

Hey guys I've had my Hawk exhaust and it sounds great but I am pretty sure I need to do the TPS reset. Has anyone done this and is it hard?

Hey all I have an 03 xb9 and did this modification (before i saw hawks pipes for such a deal)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ivdn7eno04

I am wondering if I have to get a remap or whatever.. Kinda new to buell, but not to riding. I did the airbox mod (drilling two 1.5 inch holes in each side of the airbox to increase airflow). I am not worried about performance as I only ride, I dont race. I just wanted more sound... but i do not want to damage the motor.
please email me [email protected] as i will get that before a response on here. I think i am going to call randy tomorrow and see what he says. any info will be helpful.. thanks a bunch. i have learned a lot from reading the forums..

Has anyone asked Randy about modifying the stock exhaust by taking two stock exhaust tips and putting them on either side? I was just thinking of the idea and thought it would look cool.

From LT:

What makes you think you need to do a TPS Reset? Just because you changed exhaust? That's a perpetuating wives tale that really should stop.

If you just want to reset it to have the peace of mind that it's zero'd, that's one thing, but there is absolutely no correlation, physically, electrically, or otherwise between the TPS sensor and the exhaust. None. Nada. Zip. Zero.

I second that! The Throttle Position Sensor has nothing to do with the exhaust whatsoever

Since I put on the exhaust the throttle has been lagging and if Im idle sometimes I will rev at 1G and it will cut off/stall? When I talked to Randy he said I should do a TPS reset.

I thought about that, but the tips are not symmetrical, so you'd have to have a new one custom made to mirror the existing stock one so that it would be angled the right direction on the right side of the muffler.

Good point Matt. Perhaps it would look kinda cool to have two stock tips just on the left side right next to each other....just a thought though. I don't want to make things anymore complicated for Randy.

Installed mine this week along with K&N air filter. Great product and extremely satisfied with everything. I have the ECM-Spy cable from EBAY and waiting to find someone who knows how to tune the stock ECU with the race map (willing to pay $). Amazing sound.

Just wanted to give 2 [up][up] for Randy.

I live in Europe myself (Holland) and had to have one of these mufflers (think i'm the only one now in the country haha) so i got in touch with Randy and helped me out with the questions i had. So what i did is order a muffler from ebay and had it shipped over to Randy who modified it for me and shipped it back to Europe.

He even suggested to order a K&N filer and have it shipped over to him so he could put it in the box with the muffler to save me some shipping...so i did!

Installed the exhaust today and wow, what a beast my bike is now!!

Randy is a real kind and helpful guy and the work he did on the exhaust really shows that he does it with passion.

Thanks for everything man!
