Newbie question: Can anyone explain or show me what I need to do to remove ECM to send to Randy? He's doing my muffler in the next couple days and I need to send my ecm to him as well. I'm new to Buell and have never done this before..

Lightning - it's under the seat. Firebolt - it's under the Front Fairing. Just pull out on side tabs and work it free...

Thank you stevenC150. I knew it would be something simple, just wasn't sure if that whole thing had to come off or just pull that piece out.

Ask him to make you a copy of the mapping before he modifies it in case you want/need to go back to stock later on.

One more question about the muffler since I never had a stock pipe ony bike: will I need Muffler support bushings? Anything else besides a strap set? Not sure if the hardware I need is easy to find or something I should order. Any advice would be appreciated.

If your exhaust utilized the stock aluminum rear mount (with the two clamps/straps), you will be good to go. The front of the muffler will mount to where your aftermarket exhaust down pipe mounted (you may need a longer/stock bolt--get one at Ace Hardware of you don't have it), and the rear will attach to the rear aluminum mount.

OK I just traded my Jardine for a Hawk. Unbelievable Difference in sound! It Sounds Incredible!! Im waiting on the return of my Race ECM from EBR, oh and my fractured leg to heal, to get on it and ride!! Extremely happy customer! Everything good said about these pipes is absolutely true. Randy is the Man! Will post again after the initial ride.

Well I finally did it, I shipped my muffler off to Randy for my new Hawk yesterday! Can't wait for him to work his magic on it. I've been putting this off for way too long.

Finally got my new Hawk muffler but I guess I'm still missing the bushings for the front mount. I know I've seen some threads on here about this but I can't seem to find the ones I saw before. Anybody have any leads on where to get these or anything similar at a hardware/auto parts store that will work?

Ok fellow Buellers, i just went through and read all 38 pages on this thred in reference to the Hawk muffler and came across all kinds of good info. Many thanks to all of you who share your expertise and opinions on here, it's good stuff, especially to people like myself who are novice when it comes to mods and maintenence. Oh and by the way Randy called me today and gave me the good news that he finished and has already shipped my muffler back to me! I'm like a kid on Christmas eve waiting to open his presents. Thanks Randy, you da man!

Just sent my 09 xb9sx exhaust and rear tail housing. I was on the phone with randy for about 30min. What a great guy!! Cant wait for it to get back to me.

Does anyone know the specs on the front muffler mount bolt, mine vibrated right out and off the bike, left her on the road somewhere. Any ideas for a replacement?...thread size, length etc?

stownhooligan, I just had to replace mine and since that front mount is set up for a hex head on one side and round on the other you don't have many options but I found a cheap one that seemed to work well. I used a2.5" 5/16 18 thread, hex head bolt, and a 1" or maybe even 1.5" long coupler nut. I had to remove my oil filer to quickly slide the bolt in. Once its in, the length of the coupler allows you to fit a socket on it and tighten it down (I recommend some blue thread lock too). A regular nut is too short.

I couldn't find any allen head bolts in the right size so I went with this option. Only cost me a few bucks and has help up.

I know this will be a huge surprise but Randy was fabulous to work with. Got my exhaust back a week ago and installed it the next day. With the hot weather I hadn't been able to take it out for much of a ride until yesterday. Here are my initial reactions after switching from the Jardine that was on it to the new Hawk. I love the sound! The decel popping has stopped completely. The power is much much smoother throughout and the slight lag I was experiencing with the Jardine is gone. Based on my butt dyno I have picked up some power. It is really like riding a new bike.

Thank you Randy!!

I love the sarcasm^^^ Randy is awesome guy. He lives like 45 minutes from me. Talked to him the other day for a good bit driving to my next job. Even when I told him I was getting a new race pipe he gave me some pointers. Wasn't like most companies that would push you away the first time the heard you say you weren't interested.
