Whew!! Both the new Stator and the new VR are in and took it for a test drive in the dark to watch the head lights....I feel like an idiot "test riding" after a pretty major fix it (Including dropping the exhaust so I could clean it up.) I replaced the drive belt while I had it all apart. I dont know why but I always am way more nervous when I actually use a torque wrench and do everything to spec than when I just do it too feel. But I have a bad habbit of mongo smash and striping bolts when I don't use a torque wrench. Like putting the primary case back on. Those bolts are barely a 1/4 past snug when you do them to 110 inch lbs.
The battery now reads around 14.5 v where before it was only hitting 12s. Lights stayed on for the whole 10 min drive and took it up to about 5k RPM and not even a flicker. I'm pretty exhausted since I"ve been playing army out in the field and got a 1 night parole to "do laundry and shower" I still have to clean up the garage and put the chin fairing back on.
I also put on brand brand (I'm the 2nd person to own them) frame sliders from T-Rex racing in Dallas. I put axle sliders and frame sliders on while I was doing all the work. If I have time tomorrow I'll post pics. Very nice guys and great product.
On to the next project...The lunasse wheel lights that came in the mail while I was gone.
