So I'm buying a race ecm finally, but need help to ident this muffler so I get the right one. I believe it's a Special Ops, but not entirely sure. [confused]

The first three are mine. Never mind the missing down pipe, it was the same as on the spec ops muffler in the forth pic.

I e-mailed these pics to Odie @ SpecOPS but never heard anything back.

I just want to get the right ecm and I know this isn't a stock jobber.

Thanks

There is no packing in the muffler what-so-ever. It does have a wired screen like there should be packing around it.

Looks like it was a homemade job. I think the spec ops do a tag welded to the pipe. Just the regular race EEPROM will work ok. The best way to get it dialed in is tunerpro for sure. I have a stock muffler that is in good condition I could sell you if you don't want to use that pipe.

Ive never seen the inside of a Spec Ops pipe so its hard for me to say that it looks like one. The inner screen reminds me of a Drummer Original, but the end cap is all wrong. I say go with the spec ops, Drummer original, or race ECM. I would just have a new end cap welded on that bad boy and keep rocking it.

haha Bad Karma i just started a topic asking the same question for the same reason as you. bout to order mine too.

Nice. I hear that we wont be disappointed. Got the airbox delete coming in too. Should be here just in time for the weekend.

Sweet! What year is your bike? if it's pre 08 just wondering how you plan on doing your TPS reset when you get it? I hear you're not supposed to use ECM Spy. (which I couldn't get to work any way and is why I'm buying the EBR ECM)

An Air Box Delete is not a good Idea for an 08+ Buell. Too much air is as bad as not enough if you leave the Inner air box intact the Bike will run better, A Good Mesh Air Filter is all that is needed for the Newer 08+ Buells. The Preprogramed Ecm can only compensate so much.
Your call on that remember the Lean condition already due to the Epa standards for Idling is lean so use good plugs and check them about every 5'000/miles. If you decide to run the Airbox delete to help the Engine keep the Velicity Stack Stock. You can also help the Engine when using an Air Box Delete kit by keeping the Stock Air Filter. Good Luck. Ride Safe. *Jimi

^^^^ Ohhhh...........Opps!!

I did chop down the velocity stack, and an airbox delete kit.

Now I have a flat spot on hard accel 2000rpm up but it clears up at the top end or a smooth roll on.

I should say that it could be the wrong muffler(home hack job) for the EBR ecm (programmed for a drummer)

The weird thing is. It seems like it's too rich and not lean as the bike runs way cooler now. No more burning my inner thigh on gas tank. So what is up? I have opened up the intake too much (per jimijeans) and have a less restrictive muffler than my ecm is programed for. This is a lil confusing. I think I need dyno time for some afr readings on both stock and race ecm.

I will be checking the plugs today though. See if I can't get a little more insight.

No, much better performance even with the flat spot. It has a different idle too almost like you put a larger cam in it. More vibration(Buzzy) on idle and top end rpm 5800-7000. Acts like it wants to blow through the rev limiter and keep on climbing.

I did do two TPS resets since I installed ecm put 400 miles on it already. Flat spot not so bad anymore but still noticeable.

If you haven't bought one yet. I highly recommend it. With an exhaust and k&n of course.

I have a flat spot also on my 2010 XB12R with Drummer SS, EBR ECM, K&N with airbox delete. I am begining to think its just what they do!!

I think it's the best it will get without a programmable ecm and software:(

Mine also seems vary rich at idle(smell gas). And seems to load up and idle low rpm, try to die.

EBR says that the race ecms are not tunable but I heard on this forum that you could with emspy. Know if that's true?

Glad to hear it's worth it, my EBR ECM comes tomorrow, hesitant to put it in though because my bike has been running like a BEAST these last few days (it's been in the 70s here and no humidity). Can barely keep the front down in 1st & 2nd.

So I ordered the ECM and K&N AIR filter. Small ass box arrives today and it's the ECM and a ......K&N OIL filter! [sad]. I'll still try the ECM tonight.
