Hey there, having some problmes with my 08 XB 12, talking with EBR about the fact that i can't load maps into my race ECU, meanwhile back in the world of the stock ECU I have a nasty hesitation around 4000RPM and a really rouch idle on start up. Once the bike has been thrapped it seems to settle down, but even when i run the race ECU the idle is shocking.....any ideas? the hesitation is around 4000RPM.....wierd, no engine lights or anything...[confused]

Which Race ECM are you talking about? The Programable ECM is not a locked unit. The programed ECM is not a loadable option. The fuel maps & Epromm are already set for the best(Stock) Engine performance that will work well for the Street or Track. As far as the Hesitation at 4000RPMs Maybe look into TPS reset and Fuel delivery. My EBR-race Ecm sometimes the Idle is 1150/ & sometimes Dead on 1000 RPMs.But the Throttle Response above 2,000 is good so far. There is a very small bit then it really takes off. I myself am Going to change out my XB12R-08-intake to a race one and a few other items as well. Remember these Bikes ECMs only do so much with a Stock Engine otherwise you wouldn't ride very long. Plus EPA related rules apply when it's built. It's really up to the Biker Builder to get the Power needed. Just the ECM won't do it if you want what I have Done to My XB12R 2009 bike.Built this one from the Ground up. At the Parts Cost Alone of 2,300bucks Give or Take a Hundred. And a years work I might add. Dyno sheet done Twice shows 157 Horses at the wheel with A chain drive wideband and so on. Friggin Monster Now. But My every day rider XB12R 08- Just has the Drummer SS-Exhaust,EBRs Ecm,K&N-air filter- AND a Twin Ram air airbox cover. I added Mechanical Guages Volts/Oil/Right side Scoop and many other items.I set Her up pretty good for every day Riding. The Chain Drive is Great for my Track Bike with EBRs Slipper Clutch with so much in a Race Style Bike Can't figure Riding it Off the Track Very much. Just E-Mail EBR and I'm sure you will figure out what the Deal is. The Racing Season is Rolling SO give them some time to Respond. `Jimi

share the secrets 2300 for 57 rwhp is dirt cheap and a deal at twice the price ;)

The bike is not stock, 45mm equal length headers, open airbox mod, Drummer muffler....trying to sort my race ECM with EBR as no one can get it to talk......not many dyno tuners in Western Australia want anything to do with Buell or the race ECM, hard enough just to find someone to service Buell's now HD have dropped them, not that the HD dealer was any good anyway......running the stock ECM at the moment, 89BHP and 76 torques at the back wheel, slightly up on stock, but with this hesitation and rough idle, when its cold it will not idle. Thinking ECM fuse? or leak around the inlet seala? .........[confused]

do you have the race ecm or the ebr ecm for drummer? i had idle problems and a hugh flat spot at around 4000-4500 rpm with the race ecm and my d&d.much better with the ebr ecm for d&d.

I've got the fully programmable race ECM, the HD dealer spent ages and charged me over $1000 setting it up and it never ran right, big flat spot at 4000RPM and no real power until 5000RPM......ran like a bag of spanners.......took the bike back and the HD dealer shoved the stock RCM back in......took them to court and managed to get some of my money back.....she is still running badly on the stock ECM now, with a rough idle and hesitatuion through the rev range until you get to 5000RPM, but sometimes its smooth as the problem can sometimes be intermittent, checked / changed the ECM fuse, numerous TPSc resets.......[confused]

that sounds like the problem i was having.sometimes it ran great and sometimes almost the exact same symptoms you have.put a ebr ecm tuned for a d&d and it solved 90% of my problems found a place to finally dyno tune it correctly now no problems.you should see if you can send the race ecm back to ebr and have them program it for your drummer.

My intake seals were the first to be done on my bike due to up grades.EBR like anrkizm said should be able to get the ECM workable. Had to send Mine back Twice.Just let them know about the Mods you have done . Mine was doing the same at 38-to4000 RPMs a small flat spot. Then BAM, just hauling buttus barangus after that. Thats no good for the track.Hang in there Ronson. You picked a good Exhaust for the bike. Reset the TPS every fill up. Anrkizm95, the amount of work I have done plus an extra engine, wideband and all sometimes I wonder what I've gotten myself into.`Jimi[smirk]

My bike does the same thing and I have 2006 xb9sx its like it's not getting enough of something around 4000rpms and then grabs hard at 5000rpms. I ordered new spark plugs and air filter to see if that's why I hope it will fix it does any one have any solutions ? Thanks Tony

I'm in the same boat tony. Waiting on my royal purple and NGK iridium 9 plugs. I am really hoping it fixes it. I need to tune it with datalogging but the process is still confusing the hell out of me :). Maybe I just need to flash a race map to it and see if that helps at all. It sucks and is kind of embarrassing when you start your bike up and it dies....

Oh my sounds like we have the exact problem and I also have plugs and new oil filter and air filter on way to hope it fixes it ! It's so embarrassing or when you take off and it almost feels like it is redlineing at 4000ish rpms and then just grabbs hard at like 5500rpms I have all stock parts as far as I know seemed to be better when it is hot as hell out?

Has anyone found the exact cause of the flat spot between 4,000 & 5,000 RPM and rough idle? I bought an 08 XB12R a month ago and have the same issues. It doesn't seem to change in hot or cold weather.

My bike is completely stock as far as I know except K&N air filter. I took off the air box cover to check the filter and it was recently cleaned, it was not over oiled. I did find that the interactive exhaust actuator jam nut had came loose and adjusted the cable properly and still no change. it is the stock exhaust.

I also have the flat spot on my 08 XB12Scg. I have the EBR pro series pipe, K&N air filter and EBR Race ECM. I had new plugs put in and the injectors cleaned hoping that would fix the problem, it didn't. The problem is the mapping in the program on the ECM is not set up to the exact bike and area I have it in. I contacted the Tuniversity, Max would charge $125 to custom map a program on the ECM for my specific bike. That seems to be the only way to get the flat spot out.

Which version of ECMSPY are you using in order to fetch your information from the ECM? 08 XB12's ECM's and above require MONO 2.0.

Octopus indicated to me that he is not up to speed with the newer version.

I haven't uploaded and sent the info yet, just got teh bike back on Sat. afternoon and am riding it for the bike info. Will contact Max about what version he is using. Thanks

my bike also when i start it up will die right away if i dont keep on the throttle a bit. once its warm it seems to idle fine and run alright but i also have a slight flat spot right around 4000 too with a K&N filter and Jardine exhaust
