hitting neutral to easy help

So when I'm down shifting into first I am constantly hitting neutral and when i go to pop it into first it usually makes a clunk/grinding. Starting from neutral to first from a dead stop is no problem. I checked clutch fluid and it is full I do have a clutch weep starting and am ordering parts to fix that next week. I hope that takes care of it anyone else have any ideas to try in the meantime?

primary chain tension is important, clutch adjustment, rpm range in relation to rear wheel speed...My 05 xb9sx does not like it to be downshifted into first unless I'm goin pretty slow.
