Hobbies and other Interest - A check in thread!

I'm always curious what else people are up to. What other hobbies do you have? Any unique interest?

I got into foraging a couple of years back. It makes taking walks and going on hikes more of an adventure. I don't really find much in my area, but I have moved into medicinal herbs. I'm a little scared of mushrooms, but will get into them eventually.

What do you guys do when you're not on your bike?

I feel you on that. I play quite a bit myself. It seems pickleball just sprung up out of nowhere and took over in a matter of months. It seems like everyone I know plays now.

We have a parking lot on the roof of the shop. During Covid, the building owner painted and converted it to a really well done pickle ball court complete with high intensity lights for night time and even a friggin wind sock (lol). I have yet to play

I have played pickleball a few times. It's an easy to pick up sport, which helps explain its sudden burst in popularity, but also can get quite intense. I was used to playing here and there at my wife's bequest, thinking it was quite easy. Then I got absolutely trampled by some old (seriously he was at least 70) geezer when I ventured a public match.

As far as other hobbies go, I'm very "into" coffee and espresso (ex-barista), Prog/Metal/Jazz/Funk music (bass player), and I fancy a nice GYW shoe/boot. Hiking is my latest "more expensive than you'd initially think" foray.

I have too many hobbies... but what competes most heavily against motorcycles on the weekend are mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Kids are getting older and moving out so I sold the Jeep and got an adventure bike, but now adventure riding competes against weekend road trips. There's just not enough hours in the week!

I do lots of fishing and hunting. And fixing what my kids have broke, while teaching them how to fix them. My daughter is constantly blowing up motors, tearing rims off, bending spindles.

Like Chief of Smoke I maintain a fleet of family Jeeps and motorcycles. When I'm not doing that I enjoy good bourbons and cigars as well as range time at the local shooting center.

Used to fish A LOT. I grew up on 50 acres in west central Indiana with a lake behind my parent’s house. Like c3powil I am a music fan of great musicians and passing that on to my “kids” (23, 25, and 28). My daughter took me to two Weezer concerts so I could see their opening acts of Pixies and Flaming Lips and then Blues Traveler and Big Head Todd and the Monsters for my birthday last year. My wife and I saw Blues Traveler the first time at Red Rocks on July 4, 1995. I’m also an avid reader, Indiana University basketball fan, and die hard Cubs fan. Love a good dad joke. Looking forward to retirement in about 8 years to get back into hobbies.

My Dad and I owned some mind-blowing cars during our heyday. Still have some of them. Never owned a Mini....a few Austin Americas...but Minis remain my all-time fav.

I bought this 15 years old to drive on ice tracks, that was 52 years ago. When time to take driving license my father said fix the Mini, i will pay for parts and a new paint job. So we have a long story together.

I have a few fEarless/Greenboy builds for my bass rig. I didn't build them myself, but I have wanted to. It's just much more cost efficient to buy them pre-built second-hand.

What kind of coffee do you roast?

I rock crawl in a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with Airbags instead of coil springs
and I do 3D Archery with an Oneida Eagle Phoenix. I fletch all of my own arrows.
The wife does Horse Endurance races with her Eqyptian Arabian.
We have a Capri Retreat Truck camper for over nights for both rock crawling and the horse events.
