I have a stock '05 XB9SX and just did this mod. It made sense to me that hot, humid air does not burn as well as cooler, clean air.

I spent ten dollars for a nylon T fitting, some zip ties and 3' of fuel hose. I just routed the hose down by the left foot peg. I figure the occassional drip will get blown out and away by the exhaust.

The results? Well, as someone else said, it was nothing life changing. It seems like it may be a little smoother at very low speeds. I still get some decel popping.

Due respect, the rest of this thread explains the mod. It won't have any effect on decel popping. It isn't moto-viagra. For most of us, it smooths out the choppy throttle response at lower revs and partial throttle. It also keeps the damp, oily spooge out of the airbox. There, that's the "Reader's Digest" version. So, go buy the parts and do it.

that sounds good that is exactly what i need the upper end is fine but the lower end feels like a hourse ride so im going to do it tommarow[up]

I have a race computer on my bike would I have to reprogram it with this mod I need to find out by 8/28/10 please

Ok I just finished I rerouted it over the left side of the air box down through the top middle of the air fan down and around the right side it comes out by the rear brake peddle it looks prity cool a little black spray paint and done tell me what you think

Did mine about 500 miles ago works great but does anybody have oil and gunk come out of the filter and make a mess?

i beleive i did it correct. i have a t fitting off the hose right next to the rear brake fluid resevoir and the drain hose going straight down behind the footpeg. is it not supposed to run down like that?

If you start at the beginning of this thread, it's answered several times - but for simplicity... [Quoting Gator]

The hoses your re-routing is the crankcase breathers. All the junk that needs to be vented out of your crankcase is routed into your intake (epa thing) making your bike run like crap. Its oil, water, gasses and just crap that cant be vented off the bike legally by the manufacture so Buell vented it into the intake so it can be burned in the cylinders but water and oil does not mix well and makes it spit and sputter at low rpm's.

This is a message from Erik Buell in regards to an issue I am having. Thought I would share. I'll let you know if it fixes my issue.

"Remove the breather re-route and re-set the TPS would be the first suggestions. We have seen real issues with breather re-routes and are working to understand why."

Did the mod and it works wonders, the only time it does the sputters is below 2000rpms and thats normal. Thanks guys!

I love what this mod did for my bike it made a HUGE difference but I've got to find a way to fab up a catch can. Anyone have any ideas that doesn't look thrown together I'm not much into the cheap plastic container look.

Clever, but a little ghetto for me. Prolly matches Hero Blue pretty good...
