Yeah, that would be defeating the purpose. You want the water vapor and emulsified oil out of the intake system. Even with the filter, you are going to send part of the smutch back to the intake. Also, in my semi-scientific opinion, one of the benefits of the reroute is to create steady pressure in the airbox (rather than corrupted by the pulses from the crankcase), which lets the ECM smooth the fueling. Just MHO.This might be a stupid question but where you have the T piece for the external filter to attach to before the drain valve instead of running an external filter could you add some extra hose and redirect it back to one of the two holes in the bottom of the engine filter box?
