It looks like rattle can paint in the pictures..
If you don't have a certified JET HOT store do the ceramic you're wasting your time and money.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say thank you for posting it. I did a rotation this weekend, and used this as a reference.

I also had to pull the wiring harness, which according to the service manual, requires removing the rear shock and fan to pull the harness through to the front. I found that I was able to remove the fan without removing the shock, which made the process much easier. Other than the rotation and fan removal, the only other thing I had to remove was the top tree so that the harness can be moved outside the forks so that it will slide out the front.

Now I just have to put it all back together tomorrow...!

Will be doing this this weekend on my uly. Got an oil leak from the top of the rear somewhere, and she's running rough like air is getting in. Great tutorial wingnut. I will have this page up on my laptop while I go through this.

I just completed replacing the rear rocker box gasket with my brother this weekend it was time consuming but straight forward and easy. thanks again for the great tutorial! I honestly believe it might be easier to pull the tank to do top end work I would love to see someone do a tutorial on it.

Awesome write up. Myself and a buddy will be attempting this on Sunday to remove a broken exhaust stud in the rear head. Here goes nothin!

To those that used this guide to rotate to replace rocker box gaskets, did you remove front wheel as well to get access? OP states front isolator needs to be removed for more access but does the front wheel as well? If yes how did you support the front of the bike? I was going to do rear axle lift and a jack under the motor for the rotation with both wheels on the bike like in OP's pictures. I thought I read that the motor could rest on the front tire giving access to the rear rocker box?

I may have to get started on this later today
-thanks

U dont have to remove front wheel to rotate engine. I lifted the rear of my bike with my stand and put a small floor jack with a piece of wood under the engine to lower the front of it.

Same here. If you want to really rotate it out, I'd recommend removing the front wheel but when I did mine, I just left it on and removed the front fender. I used a jack under the motor and brought it down until the isolator was pretty much resting on the front tire. It was enough to get all the work I needed to do done. If I were pulling the motor out for anything major, yes I'd remove the front tire.

Thanks fishxb12 and Enemy Zero, exactly what I needed to know![up] Unfortunately 2 harbor freight stores were missing parts for the wheel stand so I'll have to order some from Amazon.

First I have to say thanks for a very nice and helpful tutorial.
its almost easier to remove frame from motor
But I have a couple of questions. I was planning to rotate my engine for a frame removal/change after reading thru the manual.
1: Is it necessary to rotate the engine for this?
2: Does a frame removal tutorial exist?

I'm getting ready to re wrap my headers next week and you couldn't have posted this at a better time thank you!

You are going to rotate your engine to wrap your headers?

Yeah was planning on, just to make the wrap job a little bit easier to handle, do a nicer job on it as well as get to know my bike a little bit better. I've got some high temp silicone to spray on as well and I'd rather not have to worry about taping everything off on the bike and still not being able to get the headers coated in those hard to reach places.

The old wrap was also cooked on and I've got to clean all the old fiber glass off before I can re wrap it as well
