I also forgot to mention. It seems like I am only having the issue when the bike is cold. Once I ride it and it gets warmed up and everything it nice an hot at operating temperature, the VR seems to act normal. If I stop somewhere and the bike cools off I'll have the issues until it heats up again. Once it's hot I just shut her off real fast and start back up and everything runs normal. Anyone got any ideas that could get me closer to having a non problem riding experience.
 
Have you tried disconnecting that harness upgrade? I had a similar issue and then I disconnected it and I now get a constant 14 or more Volts. I cant remember exactly how I did it but, I remember disconnecting the VR and the stator wire and just plugging in the stator wire to the regulator and just leaving the upgrade harness in place. Also, the mating surface of your VR should be completely coated. The coating just prevents corrosion. Kinda like putting dielectric grease on your battery terminal. It will not interfere with current.
 
I have not run the relay harness since putting in the new regulator. So it is bypassed. Today warmed it up and ran fine and then went up somewhere and after coming back out to ride home it went over voltage again. Turned it off and back on when it was heated up again and now I have an engine light and it said IAC SYS error. Not the engine light goes on and off at random times and if I'm just idling for a light it will just stall out and die at random times. It's like sometimes it will be fine other lights it dies. It's really getting close to me just selling but I need it to be running fine so I can get what I'd like out of it.
 
Put an 08 system in it and ride it like ya stole it no worries. If you can't do that then get the rotor drilled so you get better oil flow to the coils.
 
There is nothing wrong with my stator so that would do nothing to help my situation. It's something with my VR or other wiring. The stator is running perfect. Not sure why people keep telling me stator fixes.
 
It seams like you have multiple problems. It looks like your high voltage fried up some of the circuitry. How many miles on the bike? And how long did you ride with high voltage? Like I said earlier running 25V on 12V system is only going to go so far. If you are getting 25V you need to stop and get that fixed, after that is done reset your tune and have your electrical system checked for proper operation. It looks like Idle Air Control System got damaged due to high voltage and it doesn’t let your bike engine operate properly – however you need to fix your voltage level first.
 
Been trying to fix the high voltage for the last 1500 miles. If it was high voltage I turned it off and messed with it till it went away so it was never really ridden with it being over voltage. I'm at a loss of what else to replace to fix the over voltage that's my problem. I've ran the harness, removed the harness, new stator that is running perfect, new voltage regulator, removed the grounds and sanded them clean just in case, and it's still doing it. Not sure what else to check within the electrical system.
 
My CR continues to blow out headlights. Im doing the EBRacing Rotor Modification, the roadstercycle MOSFET Regulator upgrade, and Re-Wire stator with Rick's Motorsports Electric. Once that is complete and bike able to drive and have normal voltage and able to keep headlights going, It is going to be enroute to the local Triumph Dealership for trade-in on the new 2013 Speed Triple R with factory upgrade Arrow Exhaust and ALL the carbonfiber available for it. Then Im gonna ride it like I stole it and put my 2009 CR nightmares behind me.
 
Im in the process of having the new EBR rotor installed, I sent the stator off to Rick's, and my 2008 VR is working perfect for now so I should be in good shape in a week or two.
 
Hope it works for you. I'm still stumped but have mine manageable at the moment till I can save up for an upgraded VR I guess.

Pics I got at the shop. I was told the stator was a little on the darkside and was probably getting ready to go out. Outta look good when complete.
 
Yea your stator actually looks good. It's dark from being soaked in oil so that's a good thing. Makes me think we have the exact same issue and it may be related to something else. Let me know what happens after you have all the work done.

I use full synthetic Amsoil 20-50W. No problems. Buell recommends the HD full synthetic 20-50W (atleast all the HD mechanics told me that). I know my stator worked great, Im just replacing it with the EBR updated rotor and Rick's stator mostly as a 'preventative measure' so I wont have to touch it again. When I run bike, I try and keep RPM's high instead of lugging engine. I was told its better for the oil recirculation. Im not sure, Im not a bike mechanic
 
I've been told the opposite by a Buell trained mechanic, he advised that while the XB series run better on full synthetic that the new 1125's run better semi synthetic. something about the semi synthetic properties of the oil around the stator helps protect the stator from heat damage.
