So I'm at work starting my short week before I leave for vacation and we (the guys I work with and I) kinda start talking. One of the guys asks what all I'm doing so I explain what all I have planned (with great joy at the though of leaving this place for 2 weeks). Afterwards another guy says "I heard you can't ride any distance on one of those bikes", refering to my upcoming bike trip and my "crotch rocket"(man, I hate that term). My reply was "it all depends on how big of a wuss you are". I then went on to explain that their really not bad at all and told him about my previous trip on my GSXR and how much I enjoyed that even though that bike had a seriously extreme riding position, even by sportbike standards and that my Buell is a Cadillac by comparison.

Sometimes it amazes me the misinformation that gets spread around surrounding sportbikes. I'm surprised he didn't ask if I was going to buy a new bike next year since sportbikes wear out in 20k mi. lol. Believe it or not you CAN tour on a bike that's not the 2 wheeled equivelant of an overstuffed chair complete with heat, air conditioning, radio, back/butt massage, heated/cooled cup holders, ect. ect.

Lol. To be honest, sometimes I think a bike where you can just rest your chest on the gas tank would be more comfortable than riding in the upright position on my Buell at 70 mph. At least laying over your not getting totally brutalized by the wind.

I have an XB12S and with a corbin seat on there I have no problem doing long haul. I very often do 100-200 miles in a day and I've done as much as 6 full hours of riding. Thats why I like the S, you can get a more upright position of long riding.

Done 400 on my r in a day.
Air Hawk makes a big difference.
And I don't care what kind of a bike car truck whatever, after 400-500 miles ur tired.
But I have never even started to fall asleep on my bike always too much going on, car or truck, not so much.

The only complaint i have bout riding sport bikes for long distances is that my wrists give out. After an hour the hurt and my hands are tingly, after 2 hours i cant feel a damn thing. Thank god i sold that beast and am buying a buell.

I do this often, I'll drop the passenger pegs hook my ankles on there lay ont he tank and cruise for a little while when i need to stretch out on a long haul. if anything went wrong i'd probably be in a tough spot but I practice bringing my feet back to rider pegs just in case i have an emergency situation.

You can lay forward or sit upward on a Buell. Some people are just misinformed OR jealous.I've ridden over 900. miles in a day but Dang I was somewhat tired.I think some of us have used the back pegs to keep riding to a Destination many a time. Being a Former Marine I like the wind rushing around me.But I liked it as a youngun also.Grew up riding Horses pretty much every day.Liked the wind then too and the wildness about it.Most NOT all, seem to get the Foreign bikes for Straight line Speed.Put a good handling bike under me anyday.:D
