Aloha Jordan,Do IT !!! Years ago I kind of did the same but it was a new 1973 AMF Sportster and I looked back at those that said get a Yamaha or a Honda for your first bike.It did not take them long to sell the smaller bikes they had and join the V Twin crew. Please ride safe have fun!!!

j don i bought my 08 xb12r when i was 18 and i used to ride a yz 125 all the time you just have to be carefull and not abuse the power and try not to ride it like a dirt bike i mean you will try stupid stuff no doubt because all of the power it can pute out and the insurace for me with my parent co signing is 200 a month for the 12 but the bike is your persenol preference on color and power demand

I must chime in with Crewdog in saying that I too grew up riding dirt bikes but that was many years ago. I bought my XB12R a month ago and it was my first street bike. As everyone else has said, not knowing this bike and not knowing your own limits is extremely dangerous. Perhaps the most important thing is being real with yourself and being mature. If I were your big brother, my concern would be driving experience as riding a bike on the street takes a great deal of anticipation and reading of the current/future traffic picture. The MSF riding class will certainly help but the rest simply comes with driving experience.

I started ride when I was 12 I rode old street bikes becaucse dirtbikes where hard to come by then.
Then at 16 I started riding a 250 honda rebel on the street I hated it. Then for reasons unknown to me I bought a brand new 01 Buell Blast hated that too. I always wanted a Buell S3 since the first time I saw one. I came across a 98 S3 a few years ago and bought it on the spot. I love this bike. Now at 28 I have the bike I always wanted.

If you ride it with respect a Buell won't let you down.
