On occasion, I'll turn the ignition on, flip kill-switch on, but bike won't click, initially. Give it a moment and it'll crank on, sometimes giving a voltage error. But once I have her running, battery would stay charged up to 14V. Figured maybe the battery going.

Last ride out, got her going, battery again up to 14V roughly. Then before going highway speeds, IC flicker, brake lights flicker (had a friend behind me at the time) and the battery would fluctuate between 12 and 14V. Got the battery light on, shortly followed by, CEL. Got off highway and soon, both lights went off. Rode a couple more blocks as I had this happen just once when I first got the bike but never again since. Before getting back on the highway, same thing, battery light came on and then check engine light and still the battery flickering between 12V and 14V erratic.

Would this be a relay, voltage regulator, or bad battery? Or is it the dreaded stator? (barely 1k miles on it right now) I figured when I can get the chance, to try the relay un-fix trick that's floating around on the forums, to possibly disregard either or. Any suggestions?

Check the negative terminal on your battery for snugness, also the ground on the frame.

I had a similar problem, thought my stator was on it's way out when all of a sudden it wouldn't start after about a week of weak starts with the same voltage message and comm error every time. Ended up having to roll it down a hill to start it.

I took the seat off to charge the battery and the negative terminal was hanging by a thread. Tightened it down and everything worked great, fired right up. Still gave it a charge with battery tender overnight for good measure though. No problems since.
