Jardine Torque Fix (Gatorbuell)

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Bought a jardine titanium can about a week ago.I installed it on my 08 xb12scg./i have a stock air filter, and ecm,so i also went for the restrictor/silencer.Didnt really experience alot of the negative symptoms discused here.I mean it popped once or twice on decel when cold, but also did with the stock pipe.I did notice a little less torque below 3000 ,but did feel increase from there up.I read this thread a while back and was bored, so i did the torque fix .The 2.5"was too lagre on the od to fit in the can,but the 2'' ID fit nice and snug in the s bend pipe so I ground about a quarter inch off it so I could crimp the very edge of the s pipe over it.The reduced side has a 1 7/8 od and aprox. 1 5/8 ID and extenes about 2''into the can beyond the s .

sorry, ran out of space,Noticed right away on test ride, stronger responce w/ less radical throttle position.rode about 12 miles on freeway,in and out of trafic and seems to pull a little stronger everywhere. the final test will be a canyon ride, and i will get back to ya on that. thanks for the tip.

Does this give any improvement with Remus exhaust? No other actual mods, just stock airfilter, breather re-route and dyno-tuned ecm for Remus.

I don't know if I lack any torque, bike came equipped with Remus. But every little improvement is always nice :)

I don't know if anyone checks this thread anymore but has anyone done it to their xb9? And what were your results tempted to do this before I start trying to perfect my map.

I was planning on doing this but does the reducer go into the S-bend adapter before the muffler, or after the S-bend?

It goes in the muffler itself..... That's why its recommended to wait till You need a repack. Once your into the pipe it's pretty self explanatory as to where it needs to go.

So I went to get parts to do the torque fix and realized when I got back from O'Reillys that my inlet only measures 2 1/4 & not 2 1/2 AND the damn reducer I bought expecting the 2.5 inlet measures 2 3/4 instead of the advertised 2.5................
Guess imaging back tomorrow with inlet in hand. Should I be reducing to 2in or to 1 3/4 per previous comments in this topic?[confused]

I did mine to reduce noise, my ears would ring after a ride before. Now its pleasant and removed 50% of the poping. I will tune it some but making the bike hearing safe was important to me.

I'm just following suit with this thread. Ive never had a jardine and this seems to work for others so why not try it out.

My Jardine is actually a little quiet for me.

You can follow suit but the whole reason to install an aftermarket exhaust is for flow/ performance.

It just doesn't make sense to spend money to unrestrict airflow and then add a cheap part to reduce it.

The Jardine looks terrible, sounds terrible, and reduces performance and stability. Thanks OP for at least fixing part of that [up]

its the lightest in weight, and runs damn good with a tune, any and every bike will pull like a beast with the correct tune......don't blame it on the pipe, blame it on the setup

dont' beleive me? these guys put a rest to any and all questions regarding exhuast(s)

exhuast shootout

nothing wrong with the jardine at all, tune it to run good, just like they did

I going to have to do this mod really soon don't like the lose in Torque. Plus I have to repact the can anyways. Nice work on how to get back some torque back for our bikes Gator. [up]

I'm very well aware of the benefits of the Jardine on the XB9. The XB12? Well, like most other exhausts it either reduces performance or doesn't change much.

As far as weight reduction: That's a great idea. Except that you just removed the heavier muffler that was integral in achieving #1 of the Trilogy of Technology -- Mass centralization. By removing the 20 pound muffler and replacing it with a 6 pound muffler, you've just effectively raised the center of gravity by a reasonable amount. I noticed a significant improvement in handling and stability when going back to stock from the Jardine pipe.

It is personal opinion, but I feel as though the Jardine pipe is obnoxiously loud and doesn't fit the bike. The looks are just... off.

Don't know how you got any of that out of the exhuast shootout? Bolt on a jardine which is substantially cheaper and the lightest weight (d&d $700, race pipe about $600, micron $1000). Then do a race ecm and maybe a private tune in the future for your bike and your mods, you certainly won't be losing any power, ill have to disagree 100% with you there.

And as far as the mass centrilization thing, Shaving unneeded weight is common practice because you can alter the bikes center of gravity with regards to cornering by your body mechanics and lean angle. I'm not saying I'm a professional racer by any stretch, I have however done probably 20 track days, ride smart level three school, and ty Howard's track school......all that being said, I don't need the extra weight for stability. It would be more about the rider and his center of gravity not 14 extra lbs. so I have to disagree with you there also

So I did this tonight since it was time for a repack. For some reason, lately my bike was feeling a little just "sluggish", it's difficult to describe but I didn't feel that the "turn the throttle immediate response" was there, I also thought this may have been due to the 105 degree weather we've had in Texas but I decided to do the reducer cone with this repack. I used the 2.5-2. I also reduced it on the small end with pliers. Also bought my packing from americansportbike uhhh gigity!! Anyways I couldn't be happier with the results!! The flat spot around 3000 rpm is gone for sure. And it seems the immediate twist response is there, pulls hard and strong. Pop in decelerating is still there, a little less, but still there. I think it may be less obvious popping though. The bike is quiter it seems at idle but opens right back up on throttle. Overall I would say for jardine people this is a must have. Improved throttle response, and the bike pulls!!! I would for sure recommend this mod. And now I can't wait to get my wideband o2 sensors and start datalogging so theoctopus can work his magic!!!

So this is an old thread, but it worked for me.work is scarce in construction so my funds are low.did the reducer on my 09 xb9xs with jardine exhaust.reset tps without program.runs way better.thanks gatorbuell.will be doing breather reroute soon.

wow, craziness on here

so many misconceptions that I'm not even going to argue them

reducing the flow/ performance is counter-intuitive to a performance exhaust.
