Just finally rode the bike around in a parking lot today. She does sure get hot. I had a blast though. I was surprised how much power she had in first gear. Still haven't taken her out of first haha. I foresee a lot of good times with this bolt.

Hey can anyone point me in the direction of a how to on removing the headers? I found a guy who will do them in ceramic that's good up to 2000 degrees F for only $250. Also wondering if I would need a new ecm reset with pipes done. Thanks guys.

Ya thanks I figured that out by now. I posted that while at work before I had time to look. It doesn't help that the search function on this site Is rubbish and includes all kinds of stuff besides what you search for. Overall I love the wealth of knowledge here...it can just be hard to did through it all.

Ya I've checked out the manuals. Lots of reading. Lottts. Plus sometimes peoe here just seem to have better ideas... Ive discovered most people recommend not rotating the motor to remove headers even though that's what the manual calls for.

I just ordered a 2010 uly heat shield from my local HD dealer for $46. The price of the ceramic coat and internal coating is about $100 to much. I live in CA where everything cost more and multiple shops quoted $125-150. Look around. Have fun, the other 4 gears are great...

125 to 150 seems pretty cheap to me. Then again Im going with a way higher temp grade paint than necessary just to be safe. Think I'm just taking her to the local mom n pop bike shop to have heads removed. Labor is only $65 an hour.

If you have the space tools and the time do the work yourself. Don't be intimidated by it. It'll take you a Saturday afternoon at best. And you'll feel like the man after you're done!
If you don't have the space tools or the time then that sucks.
You're probably looking at $130 to $260 in labor alone.
Depending on IF the shop rotates the engine or not.
Good luck

I just don't want to take the time right now to do it myself. If it was winter I would do it but it's my first bike and I want to get riding sooner. I know the shop can do it quicker than I can lol.

I have a couple of powder coat shops that ceramic coat and bake the header with a heat reduction inner coating in my area for the price stated. These guys do hi quality work too. Look around. You may be able to sink money saved in other stuff you gotta have. Bikes eat money.

Also in regards to this, thats a kicking deal if its for the top shelf coating. What i'm getting is some of the coldest to the touch thermal coating you can get. I do some hydrographics and checked in with some guys who do ceramics and they agreed that $250 is a pretty good price for this grade of coating. Your shops are either underselling or are using basic heat resistant coatings.

Well my bike is in the shop having the pipes removed. Already can't wait to get her back. Oh well. It shouldn't be more than 2 weeks total to get get back. Now to just wait for my stuff to come from Odie and American Sportbike.

Just wanted to update you all that Odie came through and I got my heat shields. He actually never replied to my email asking where the product was but it just showed up one day. It looks pretty decent. Hopefully it will work good. Bikes still in the shop sadly.

I sent money to Odie myself three days ago....looking forward to installing the shields when they get here.

Post up pictures of the headers when you get the bike back!

I paid on the 15th and apparently the package came the 29th. I just got it last night though as I had it shipped to a local friends. Not letting the family in on the bike till she's all modded.
