Ive probly got about till mid Dec till I seriously have to put my bike away for winter then Im down till about mid to late March.. Im thinking of buying some lined jeans to try and shorten that. HATE THE COLD DAYS, but love to ride Had a 50 deg. day the other day and volunteered to go get bugers from Mickey D,s in another city cause we dont have one. 90 miles both ways but I loved it. Hands and feet were cold but i servived.

I bought my bike on a 43deg day. Weather wouldnt stop me from riding it. Good gloves, leather jacket, good boots, and thick pants are key. Or, just wear a rain suit. that stops the wind, and keeps you toasty.

Marquez, thanks to you I'm riding strong again. My bolt seems to love cool/cold weather and with the proper gear, so do I. That air cooled V-Twin works better than the seat warmers in my Rover and even offers a butt and thigh massage that I can't get in a car. With a lined leather jacket (Fieldsheer), lined wind proof pants (Fieldsheer), Alpinestars w/ boot socks, and insulated gloves, there is no way I will put my bike up for the winter. ...Haven't figured out how to ride on the ice yet but since we only get a few days of that here in Dallas, I'll just take those weekends off.

Yeah they run way better in the cold (once they are warmed up that is). I rode mine through the winter back in NY. The coldest I rode in was 22 degrees. MAN IS THAT COLD!!!! haha great riding tho! When the roads are that cold the torque from these machines can ealily spin the back tire when your goin 45. its great! i love the feeling of knowing that just one little mistake can put you down or if you don't see a tiny ice patch you are done. i really miss the super cold rides. I would bundle up good tho and really hug the bike to stay warm.

I'm in MD and I bought my bike in November and rode it up until Christmas then a few nice days (Sunny and climbing into upper 30's) in Jan. This year I think before Thanksgiving its getting stored until March. Maybe taken out for repairs or mods or service.

where the fu%k do you live that you are 90 miles from a McDonalds??? Wife bids on South Dakota....

lol West Texas and its 45 miles to the nearest McD from Andrews to Midland. Sucks but gives me more time on the rode.

Haha i was going to ask the same question! I also live in tx now and can't go 3 miles without seeing one. Also no offence at all bro, but i wouldn't even drive the three miles for one of their burgers haha. That being said i would have made your trip tho...any reason for a good long chilly ride is a good reason.

Yup this is what i did for a whole winter. Bought my bike in December and nothing was gonna stop me from riding it :D. Back in OR i was always hugging my bike for heat... now being in LA im spread eagle avoiding the heat lol

it sucks in Oregon its not the cold so much as it is the almost non stop rain. i hate rain but ill ride/drive in snow all day long, thats where my enduro comes in handy

We are getting below zero here now regularly. Put the stabilizer in my bike this afternoon. I have to clean it on the weekend but thats it for me for the season........sled time

mk2 you ride when there is snow on the streets? There is no way you have traction on your front wheel in turns. I messed up my knee really back for almost a year while playing with my dirt bike in the snow. Front wheel washed out while going straight and me and the bike slammed down on my knee...rupturing my "bursa" sack or something like that. Apparently its a sack of nerves just under your knee cap. Very weird injury, didn't hurt at all unless there was any pressure applied, then it would be instant unbearable pain. It was bad bc there was nothing to remind you not to kneel, so the first few weeks were torture.

Yeah, I ride as late in the year as possible here in NY as well. It gets pretty damn cold at night but seems to warm up to an alright temp by the commute home in the afternoon. It does get a little hairy when the temp gets down below 32. Good gloves, jacket, pants and boots are key. I don't wanna have to store my baby any longer than I have to.
