The 1P78's are nice, and now crazy pricey. Occasionaly one will pop up on gunbroker or on a forum. The factory raised the price so no one will import them anymore. If you find one, make sure it has the correct military rectical. As some that came in have the wrong lens.

I just picked up an M&P Shield 9mm. I love this thing. I couldn't wait so right after buying it I put a few hundred rounds through it, it shoots flawlessly and is large enough to grip but small enough to easily conceal. And tool-less take down FTW!

It's almost like black gold...

1/2 the cost of factory loads for the most part. Gonna have to either teach the wife or one of the kids to do the loading, I usually don't have the time for it.

dean, mind if I ask how much you have in equipment to do those? My father loads for his rifle, I'm thinking about buying the 9mm die and using his equipment, but I'd have to do it at his house.

More than I'd like to admit. The conversion kit and dies for a 9mm will run about $100, I'd recommend getting the quick change kit to go with it for another $100 though. Pull 2 pins and the whole top plate slides out. No messing with the dies once it's set up right. I guess I have about $1k sitting there on the bench right now.

Thanks. Sounds like you're doing good. My father has probably thousands and thousands in to his. He shoots competition long rifle.

I've looked into rolling my own ammo as well
It will be a worthwhile investment when the time comes.

being that bears are the only problem in this region I have found over the years that bears are forgiving,
they give you time to lock and load
;)

I leave a round in the chamber.

The exception is my hi point(which I don't carry), I do not leave a round in the chamber because the firing pin is also the ejector for the spent shell.

I just checked my shield, it does not have the recall issue :)

up here in Canada eh you are not allowed at any time to carry a pistol,
the exception I have heard of is a special permit if you work in the forest..

but I can load my M&P 15 with a 10 shot mag (all handgun mags in Canada are blocked off at 10 as well), full optics and go hunting with it..

or I can load 6 slugs in my Mossberg 500, with tactical stock and optics, another 6 slugs riding side saddle and go hunting with it..

or I can load my M&P 12/22 with a beta mag (unlimited mag cap for .22 up here as well) and go hunting with it..

gun laws in this country make perfect sense right [confused]

SIG AR with 8 mags 1500 rds, Taurus 24/7 pro stainless steel high cap 17rd mags x2 with couple hdred rds, and .22long with couple thousand rounds. :D[up]
