That looks like it might work. I think anything rated for ~300 deg F or higher would hold up(just guessing that lights get to about ~150-200 deg F). Silver is supposedly the best reflector.
I think I'll give that stuff a try. I'll pick some up soon and post back. I'll keep trying different products until I find something that works lol. The only thing questionable about that IMO is the "translucent" comment...
I'm going to go to the store and see if they have that stuff on lunch. I'll give it a shot when I have time over the next few weeks, or maybe some better options will come up.
I stopped by advanced auto on lunch, didn't see that particular paint but did see the high heat clear. Haven't bought anything yet. I also saw some silver caliper paint(high heat) and some chrome paint(not high heat). I'd think the chrome would reflect the best but what do I know...
I have used high heat engine paint before to paint two stroke motors that was a pretty reflective silver color and was at just about every auto parts store for only a few bucks a can.
I wonder if just a bright silver high heat engine paint would work okay? I would think a chrome finnish would be best but if a good silver will work, guess it is the only other option. What do you guys think?
I know that engine paint above is pretty glossy and has a lot of metal flake in it. At least I think that is the same color that I used last time. I would know for sure if the can was in front of me.
I've decided not to use that product above. My buddy who has spray equipment will not be able to do it. So this weekend I'll be doing a gloss black rattle can coat followed by a chrome rattle can quote. Hope it works. If not, at least it'll be cheap and I can redo it later. I just need my bike together pronto...
Yes they are just plastic and I'm almost positive they are abs too. My headlights were completely demolished a few months ago and instead of getting a low and high housing I just got two lows and removed the metal plate. They are the same housing like mentioned earlier. I actually removed the plates in both housings. That helps "lighten" things up lol
But if you do spray a non-high heat chrome finish and follow up with a high heat clear I would assume the chrome would bubble up under the clear and produce all sorts of nastiness in your lights. I've never tried that method but that's just what I would assume would happen? Who knows though. Try it lol
