Well the reason I mention it is because my father in law has done it many times and used many products, and said most of the common ones don't last, they are soft and eventually break down from the gas. This last one he used he said it stayed hard and was much better product.

Tank prep A is muratic acid. You can pick up a gallon jug of it a Lowes or Home-Depot. DO NOT GET THIS STUFF ON THE PAINT OR YOUR SKIN. Yeah, I was yelling that intentionally. Use good rubber gloves and some common sense, ie; don't get it on you, in you or breathe in the fumes. Have a hose handy, have the water running while you're doing this part, you'll probably need it. If you've never messed with muratic acid, the main fyi on it is, it will break down concrete if you pour it on it.

I don't remember what prep B was off the top of my head, essentially it's to rinse/dry out the tank after it's stripped. It's probably acetone or something similar, it's just been too many years since I did the last few. It was somewhat common back when I worked on them in the early 90's.

After it's been stripped and dried out, use the sealer right away. Rust will start forming pretty quick, you may not see it, but it starts anyway. I've done a few of them, preparation is everything to getting a good seal to the tank. Remove the petcock and plug the holes where it's at, masking or electrical tape will NOT work. Rubber plugs taped in place should hold, just depends on the type of tape.
