Low side High side poll

Two high sides on a dirt bike, hope I never high side on a street bike.

Two low sides on the street(both under 5mph), one loop and one I don't remember. Who knows how many low sides on a dirt bike.

It’s been my observation that on asphalt (both street & track), lowsides are much more common, because all highsides start out as lowside losses in traction.

Highsides are extremely rare in the dirt (I’ve never witnessed one) because dirt simply doesn’t offer enough traction for the rear tire to hook back up once it’s begun to slide out.

I’ve also observed that although highsides happen less frequently, the resulting injuries are usually much more severe than from a lowside.

Personally I’ve never high or low sided on asphalt, but as 06 pointed out above, I can’t count the number of lowsiders I’ve had in the dirt. As the old dirtbike expression goes “if you’re not crashing, you’re not riding properly”!

Never even thought to count wrecks in dirt, started to young. As far as the street goes 2 lowsides at low speeds.

99% of my dirt riding is dirt trails in the mountains. My two high sides were from the back tire hitting a rock or tree root and then stopping very abruptly. One threw me off the road/trail and down a mountain side, no idea how I escaped with nothing more then a few bumps and bruises.

Several lowsides. They hurt.
2 highsides. They'll hurt as well and in my case, cost a couple organs, or render select unassuming fingers totally useless and nearly impossible to fit into a glove.
Conclusion,
You ride em you wreck em
You get knocked down you get back up

Lowsided my GS500 a couple years ago. Never highsided a bike, don't really care to either.

Two lowsides at the track, one on a RS125GP bike, one on a BOTT EX 500, lost the front end both times, Two highsides (same bikes) both on first lap cold tires, didn't crash either time, just feet over my head in a split second, landed back on the bike and kept going. It happens so fast it's over before you know it. And if you can believe it as a passenger I got highsided off a racing sidecar at about 80 mph. Landed on my back in the grass and slid forever. That one hurt for real.

Yea, for sure. I was taught that if you start to feel a loss in rear traction mid-corner (either from too much brake or throttle) it's safest just to go with it and let it lowside. Unfortunately, that's a pretty tough reaction to develop! If you back off the brake or throttle (as is instinctual) you greatly increase the risk of highsiding, and more serious injuries.

about 4 low sides, walked and rode away on all of them (missing a few bike parts sometimes)

1 high side. Broke my collar bone cause of it and I was on the track.

If you must choose one, go the for lowside and have you gear and boots on.

street count
high sides :4
low sides : 16

not sure if bwylie was street or not

raymans end over end if on the street would have probably started as a highside?

Lots in the dirt over the years. 1 street low side at 75mph. There's nothing more depressing that watching your bike slide away from you. Paid for that one with a healthy portion of my left ass cheek.

Two low sides, one at 35 mph. I rolled like a log. Not one mark on my new Arai! Good lord was watchin. No high sides but one head-on with a left hand turner car. Fucked up my beloved SR 500.
