I have noticed a lot of you guys are serving our fine country. I would like to start this thread, so everyone else can let you guys know how much we appreceiate what you do...

A few weeks ago, I was buelling down I-75 near Saginaw, Michigan when I saw a military convoy. I must say, I was overcome with emotion. I immediately thought of the sacrifices made so that I can traveling at Firebolt speed in this fine country. I then raised up my left hand with a thumb raised for the entire convoy. Almost EVERY driver on the convoy returned the gesture.

I would just like to thank all the American service men and women in this country, and abroad, for doing what you do. I truly do envy your commitment and sacrifice! I encourage all others to post in this thread...and shake the hand of a military man!

Thanks you guys and gals for the ability to ride my Buell.

Good call! There have been a few threads on here thanking the brave men and women that protect our country.

Keep up the good work, kick some ass for me and come home safe! [up]

I would like to thank all of you that have been deployed and I will be joining your ranks soon.

Deploying late 2009 early 2010.

Very good idea! Thank you to all the military folks out there! You guys and gals have way bigger balls then I have ever dreamed of having!

Please keep it as safe as you can and return to the USA in good shape!

My prayers are with all the loved ones who have been lost in the heat of the battle!

Now we just have to figure out how to take our bikes downrange...

Thanks, y'all

FIDOSOL do you salute every time you see a new post from Bill :p, J/K.

I would not mind mounting a Mk 19 to my bike but I would have to get a Uly XT to get threw the carnage.

I had a frankenbike for a bit in Afghanistan (dirtbike built from parts from many broken ones), but somehow it wasn't the same (and then it got blown up)

LOL, yeah we had a pocketbike (of sorts) while we were in Mosul for a few months..tons of fun..they DO NOT like gravel though :)

Can troops actually use and enjoy motorcycles and atv's in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I mean, if someone had too much money laying around and they wanted to support the troops, could they have some atv's shipped overseas for troop entertainment?

I can't speak for Afghanistan..but in Iraq I really don't see that happening. Closest thing to that are some of the POGs have gators for driving around...mostly to and from chow :)... But for the most part the FOBs are too small and there is always way too much going on to be able to move around and have fun with them.

We use ATVs with us on Chinook helicopters and on patrol to be used as MEDEVAC vehicles (to get the injured to the bird), to carry ammo and such and as mobile comms stations. We don't really get to play on them much. The bikes are for FOB use only (kinda hard to shoot from one, no matter how good the guys in the movies are at it).

Hey ya'll understand, the real army is different from what Bill does....He's Special Forces...they get all the cool stuff.

Question for anyone who is or was a part of the Military. I currently have an associates degree and I'm currently working on my BA. would I be able to enlist (particularly the Air Force) as an Officer or do I need my BA for that? I've been contemplating joining so that I could experience the pride of serving the country and traveling the world but there are a lot of factors that have to be taken into consideration first.

it is a personal objective of mine to shake the hand and thank every single service man and/or woman i come across! if you don't support the war you dont't support our troops, period
