Has anyone thought of modifying the rad pods to see if more air can be extracted to help cool a bit more. I have seen the free spirits I believe that have an exit away from the bike.

I have been thinking of removing the divider at the entrance of the pod and opening up either the side of the fan or towards the rear of the pod.

What do you all think?

I removed the divider in mine.

The only place it seemed to help is during lane spliting on the way home from work (well...any lane splitting..!). When air is not comming straight at the pod entrance.
It didn't seem to do much of anything major anyplace else.

If you are having cooling problems, look into doing some remapping of the fuel and timing maps.

I added a lot of ignition timing to my CR. Made a big difference to both the way it runs AND the coolant temperature.

I also bought a Yamaha (R1) radiator to install in front of the engine. Haven't had time to make up brackets and get it in place. Too much car work going on..!

I dont think Im having a real problem, I guess its something I perceive. In traffic it will get to 200 almost 210 on the highway slowdown here in Texas. Just gonna start looking into finding a way to extract heat away from the rads. I have an EBR ECM for the barker exhaust and it has helped. Sounds like it runs a little richer than before. I got water wetter inthere also.

On this topic: Does anyone know of an online source for radiator shrouds? Preferably OEM, but aftermarket is okay, too.

Suddenly I need one... sigh.

200...210...at what ambient temp.?

I'm in So. Cal. On a 100+/- degree day, splitting lanes on the freeway, my CR runs 185F/190F.

On the open road, closer to 180F/185F.

On the open city streets, simillar..near 185F.
Sitting at a long light, it will just touch 200F, and will start to cool before the next signal. If the next signal is short...185F/190F until things open up again.

For some reason, it seems the Buell factory guys don't like much ignition timing. That's leaving power on the table. Also, some reduced combustion chamber degrees...! I have that program that's no longer available that allows some timing adjustment.

The outside temp here is usually over 100 so I would say the ambient temp is at 90 to 120 depending on movement within traffic.

Yeah like just right now at about 2200, the temp start reaching 190 to 200 inside traffic with outside temp of 80-85. Man the frame is burning and the fuel vents like a mother.

I have a trackday coming on tuesday, after that, Im gonna flush the rad system, change the plugs and do something about the pods.

What program is that that adjust the timing? I have an ebr ecm.
