Hey i know that seat!!!

Yeah you should know it. Hopefully this will give me the extra motivation to finish the subframe and you'll be able to say the same about it when I post pics of it installed. [cool]

Terrible for comfort and hard as a rock!

I was thinking the same thing and have been brain storming/searching the internet for options for extra padding.

Your bike looks great!! Don't worry about the timing cover - it looks good the way it is. The seat is awesome!!

Thanks the wheels are virginia tech orange (the only orange powder coat I could find that didnt look like a parking cone :D

thanks to GAXB9R I have my chain conversion on already. Up 2 in the front has really helped, almost no loss of power and the gears last way longer. Im interested in where to find the wheel for a 240 rear so anyone who has the swap done pm me cause I have questions.

Looks good.

Twoguns did the 240 here's the link contact him he should be able to give you some info

Thanks everyone.

I have about 500 miles on the chain conversion now and the only thing I can say is "why didnt I do this sooner?!?!" I love it! Had a little hard time getting the tensioner to stay (its the rigged up drilled out stock one) but all and all Im happy. Anybody who is worried about the chain wax slinging on their wheels beware because yes it gets all over the place, especially with bright orange wheels! To me its no big deal Its well worth the ride quality and I wipe the wheels down every other ride anyways. I still have really bad wobble under full acceleration but I think Ive narrowed it down to either the shitty shinko front tire or steering head bearings. Not sure what I should do first. Im not use to riding a bike with no stabilizer but it just seems way too sketchy for this to be "normal" with these bikes. last week at 90mph it shook so bad the bars were almost hitting the air box cover. adjusting the suspension helps sometime a little bit buts its always there. I heard if you ride straight and let go of the bars that if it has any movement its head bearings. I do have a steady back and forth movement when i do this but im not sure how true it is. I want to fix this before putting the 240 rear on. so if you read this and have input let me know.

I have pretty much topped my bike out and it was nearly perfectly stable the whole way. Above 120mph it got a small shake in the bars but tightening up my grip and arms fixed it. I have since replaced my steering head bearings with aftermarket all balls tapered roller bearings and it's even better, although I haven't gone over 80ish.

Just curious, with the chain conversion, what exactly is better?

I am use to California where the cruising speed is 85-90 in and out of traffic on the 405. My friends and I would ride daily and if they would speed up a bit it felt like I had nothing left. Now with 2 up in the front I can maintain higher speeds and still have plenty of power. I guess im just use to my hondas being able to keep up with the crew. The conversion has given the bike a completely different feel and I guess I personally feel its more like a 1000cc class bike now. who sells the all balls? I might get a set seeing as the stock ones are said to go out often.

Thanks for the link.

So you went up 2 teeth on the front sprocket?  Does this cause a loss in acceleration?

the quick answer is yes, the detailed answer is no. This bike has plenty of power to make up for the loss of gearing. That being said at higher elevations and under extreme conditions Im sure the loss would be a lot easier to feel. But from me gunning my bike onto the veterans freeway I cant tell a loss at all. Actually since I know have a moment to get in position to shift into second after taking off I feel like I can use the new longer gears to really use all the power available and it feels faster. I have no 1/4 mile times or any real data to prove it but in my opinion it is faster off the line to 80 mph and holds higher cruising speeds much easier (and the higher speeds were my goal). Not to mention second gear clutch up wheelies are perfect now. It takes very little to get the bike up and can be held right at 50-55 just perfect.

Gotcha, are you a 12 then? or a 9?

What rpm are you at at 70mph?

I feel the same way where the bike is revving really high above 70mph and you just can't cruise at those speeds.

first I cant say thanks enough for the bike comments. I put a huge amount of work into this and really appreciate all feedback. When I get positive replies it really makes me happy that my work has payed off.

yes its a 12 and no idea on the sped. now with the sprocket off my speed is about 10MPH lower than stock. when I ride beside my brother his bike says 50 and mine says 40. so i dont think my speed/rpm would be very accurate. Ill try and pay more attention next time and see if i can get a rough idea.

How much did you charge for the seat cover?!? Im interested in one myself.
the seat covers are not really for sale. I have a member looking into testing it for me and when he tells me its ok I would think about selling them if you guys wanted them. Ill be back in CA in a month and will have full access to my shop again so I could make them whatever designs or colors you guys wanted. Im not looking to jack anyones business or sell out of place on the forum so if its a no no please tell me. If not I have no problem making some covers for members, we would just have to see what it costs me in materials/labor and figure out a forum price that was reasonable.
