im going to paint both front and back brakes red any one used the spray or brush on caliper paint i never have so looking for advice on best brands that last along time and dont fade[up]

I've used spray on caliper paint on many calipers and also on a exhuast. It's always turned out great. Very durable and lasts a long time. I painted my celica calipers in winter of 08, and they still look shiny. They're also very easy to clean. I just did a ZTL2 caliper a while ago as well.

Just make sure it's clean and well sanded first. I used duplicolor wax and grease remover to clean it.

I've used both VHT (900 degree) and Duplicolor (500 degree). I don't really have a preference, but I think the dulicolor might come out a little better looking. It runs less.

I don't think you have too. I was researching this a while ago. I know the tire rack sells a kit that was recommended to me (it's a brush on...) and I was told it's a very hard paint almost like a ceramic to resist rock chips.

:) yes i think it will add alot to the bike with the big front brake painted red and the back is just to match for me

Hey TX,

I would use duplicolor engine enamel. They make a clear coat as well that Will provide a high gloss look if that's what your after.

I have used them on my calipers on my Treg and the race muffler on my bike. Great products, very easy to apply, better than the brush kit which tends to leave brush marks and inconsistent coverage and thickness.

now should i take the brake lines off or just leave them and tape everything up[ for paint

I would remove them, very easy to do. Plug the holes and tape off anything you don't painted.

You could even do a two-tone, Red with a black stripe or something.

G2 caliper paint is awesome too. I used Duplicolors caliper kit on my previous car and they chipped within 3 months. I have G2 on my Brembos on my car and they still look new and I painted them over a year ago. The nice thing about the kit is it comes with everything. Cleaner, paint, hardener, and brush. This was from a few months ago at about the year point. I bought clear since you dont need to clear them but I put on the decals and cleared over them to make sure the heat didnt peel them. I think the clear makes them look alot better.

Don't buy the duplicolor "Caliper" kit, just use the duplicolor engine enamel. The Brembo Calipers off my Treg have been superheated, power washed, seen gravel roads, and plenty of corrosive brake dust and sand. They were painted almost two years ago and still look like new.

Make sure and clean the calipers really well to remove all brake dust and corrosion. Apply multiple thin layers, waiting about 20mins between coats. Allow to dry after last coat for an hour then apply a couple coats of clear 20 mins apart.

Then allow paint to cure for at least 24 hours before heat cycling, preferably 7 days cure time if you can stand not riding that long. lol

You will not be disappointed, there is no way your bike will see the abuse my brembo's have seen.

Remember, preparation is paramount with any successful paint project.

started friday cleaned n shot first coat then saturday night shot 2nd and 3rd coat , and sunday shot4th and 5th im going to let them cure for 7 days at least,
