Im posting from my phone because im in the middle of no where and we stopped my oil light cam on as we went to leave and it wont stay runing. its an 04 xb12r I have it cooling off now. Been riding for a canstant 2 hrs

Any help apprecated

04's dont have the upgrades; check ur regulator connections and battery connections too. oil light is usually loss of pressure or really hot. is ur fan kicking on at all?

I cant tell if it kicks on when im riding. It does when it dies. It has an 06 engine did the oil cooler size change

made it home guys. that bike got warm! im going to do an oil change tomorrow. but i have a few ideas on what my problem could be but i need some one to tell me if im thinking right or just being stupid.

1. oil cooler to small(dont no if they changed size)

2. fan map. i no i have the older map. can i change that my self or do i need to bring it to harley?

3.maybe the temp sensor on the back cylinder went bad. so the fan isnt coming on when im going slow. is there any way i can test that?

4.or maybe im runing lean? i remapped it with a race map.

another question. whats the best way to make sure the oil pump is working right? like an oil pressure gauge. but where would i splice one in or can i get to it from the computer?

harbor freight and most parts stores carry them.remove the oil sending unit by the oil filter and install the manual gauge.

make sure the oil light doesnt come on :D

06's didnt have the upgrades either; (08 and up have upgrades)

oil coolers can turn up faulty too; disconnect and check for signs of little oil, or too much oil

yes thats the one

you install that where the oil sending unit is.

awsome. thanks. this whole thing is confusing me a little. i think im over thinking it.

I think 06 had the upgraded gear for the oil pump. They are bronze i believe. Americansportbike.com has them. Good luck. Lots of good people as well As info on here

When I get home today im going togo all over the oil sistem. And replace the heat sensor on the back with one I have off an old engine. Im also going to replacd the oil pressure sensor bevause I also have a good one of them 2. Also going to look at the plugs to make sure the engine isnt runing lean. Luckily I have a 1/2 day of school today

Just got the plugs pulled. I think its runing lean. only on the rear. Ill post pics when I get incide
