I knew there was a reason I thought the higher the value in the fuel map the richer it was. From what I have, then, the race map I burned to my bike is richer than the stock map from my bike(not at all rpms, though). But it is richer at low rpms/low throttle, which is when my bike would end up getting extremely hot easily.
So I still stand by the race map is richer and that's why my bike is running cooler, or at least a large part of the reason anyway.
I read somewhere online a while back that if you had a the race ecm, you were supposed to put on the race pipe then de-snorkel it and go! The learning ecm was supposed to figure out the mixture after about 10 miles of riding at certian speeds at certain rpms I forgot the exact proceedure but I did it when I went "race ecm"
... went ahead and drilled holes in the air box cover later on.. my 04 seems to be running fine. The top half of the tach runs real strong.. it really sings up around 5-6 grand. Down low, around 2-3 grand, it feels a bit weaker than before but not real bad. I only noticed a noise difference on the fist day I drilled out the air box cover.. then I got used to it. Thats my experience with it.. I guess race ecm makes the difference with this mod?
stock ecm with race maps is the same thing as the race ecm. Any of the ecm's will "learn" as they have a range that they will adapt to(that's the best thing about efi).
It does compared to stock ecm. But when you flash the race maps to the stock ecm it becomes identical to he race ecm with the exception of the "for race use only" stamped on the outside.
Since the left side of the airbox has the 4 vertical sections and the right side is solid I'm currently considering 'dremeling' out the Buell Pegasus (above) in the right side of the airbox then adding red LED's inside for a backglow. Could look pretty good with my Cherry Bomb airbox cover. Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions...
yea def a little overwhelmed to put it lightly....but that pegasus airbox mod we be dope..riding bikes is a weekend hobby for me (college dude) and not to knowledgable on what im doing when it comes to a motor...so i want to make sure whatever i do i wont cause lasting damage, you feel me?
I had the same concern when I was contemplating gutting & Frankenstein'ing my muffler. I went ahead and did it anyway and couldn't be more happy with the results, both cosmetically and sound-wise.
I say go for it (...say's the guy that doesn't have to pay to fix it if it screws up).
