Hey folks, new to the forum and (as the title states) a new XB12R owner.

Bought her used (but impeccably well cared for) as an '04 with 30K on the clock for $2500. This is my first big engine bike, as I've only owned a '03 Yamaha V-Star Custom 650 and a '93 Suzuki GS500E, both great bikes.

Was a bit nervous leaving the driveway, having never ridden a bike with this kind of power, but a steady and controlled right hand made this an absolute thrill to ride. After taking her out for a spin around town and country roads today, I must say this it left me wanting to make detours for more time with it.

Definitely a head turner, that's for sure... so much so, that a neighbor of mine (who I've never even met and later said he builds Harleys), knocked on my door 2 mins after returning home and said "Hey, mind if I check out the Buell? I heard you comin'." He ended up crawlin' all over my bike and singing its engineering praises. Turns out, mine has a big aftermarket cam and a very expensive exhaust, which I didn't realize.

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hay" and that I'm now part of the Buell fandom.

Take care ya'll,
- James

Thanks all, I did quite a bit of research on here before buying, you guys have proven to be an invaluable resource. [cool]

Per request, here's a pic of my exhaust:

I know nothing of this brand, but that Harley builder guy was all over it and it Does sound amazing...

The brand is "Drummer." The manufacturer's website is: www.kdfab.com

But after a brief look over on their site, they seem to be an 'in the know' company with Buell exhausts.

The nice thing about having him come check out the bike is you now have a Harley mechanic as a neighbor if needed, and I think he opened himself up to helping you out by stopping in like that! :D

Welcome to the forum! Enjoy the bike! [up]

Oh, be sure to post your bike in the sweetest, baddest, no holds bar thread on this forum for the undisputed baddest bikes on this forum.........why? Because you belong to it! :D

Red and Amber Babies!

Welcome! Nice find! [up]

Looks like you have our axle sliders on there! :D

Have a look at our site for some other stuff you may want to add. Always feel free to ask us or anyone else here just about any question you may have...Lots of great people here!

Drummer SS FTW

Doesn't look like a Drummer SS (I see bolts or rivets and what looks like a black body) but still a great pipe from what I've heard.[up]

Welcome home Honch. The XB Forum is a great place to learn & share all things Buell. Nice bike. Treat her well.

I did the exact same thing less than a year ago and glad I did. 100% thrilled with my Buell.

Welcome, I too had a gs500, but mine was the f, fairing version. Fun little bikes, I honestly miss it!

Hm I'm not well versed in bike parts / mechanics, what do they do, might I ask? Also, there were several XBs in the picture slide on your site with custom headlight / windscreen cowl setups. I didn't see them on your site, but can you get those?

Yeah most definitely, he was more than kind with offering to get me parts or do work on it. He was particularly envious of the adjustable front end it has, I suppose those aren't common? Anyway it was pretty cool to have a friendship form like that... he even offered to have me along on some kind of sponsored Harley ride comin' up :0

I hear ya bud, I've still got mine but it's tucked away in a dark storage unit... I have a feeling it'll be there a while now that I've tasted the delicious XB fruit, heh.
