Hey guys,

Just replaced my 04 clutch cable with a new one, the kind with the plastic coating on the inside of the cable...

Is there any need to lube these cables? Or, is the plastic coating fine by itself?

I have some "harley lube" at the house but, would rather use a graphite lube anyways.

If it's a "new" cable you should be good for a couple of oil changes( depending on if it is protected), I generally hit my throttle and clutch every 2 or 3 oil changes

Yes lube it even if it's new. Inox cable lube works well for that. You can find it at Dealers and supply shops etc.. A Cable lube is somewhat better and grafite is OK so as long as you maintain your ride you can wait maybe 1'000miles, but with a new cable I always suggest to install it and before you hook up the Cable to the Clutch Lever put some lube in the Cable housing so it breaks in and lasts for a good long time. Ride Safe. *Jimi
