New magnaflow exhaust

yea i could of clamped it but its a much cleaner look just welded especially with no chin fairing. as far as heat on the rear tire thats a good thing isnt it? a hot tire is a sticky tire haha. i may eventually put some angled peices on there for looks. O yea and 95 bucks from jardine isnt worth it. i would just go to a muffler shop if i didnt have the jardine already

It's not really a matter of heat that I foresee being a potentual problem with the exhaust exiting straight into the rear tire. It's exhaust soot, which by the way carbon makes for a nice dry lubricant. Also, if you were ever to encounter an engine problem were it might blow oil out, guess where it's aimed at? Other then that, I've been wanting to do this (with angled tips) before I even saw the GB thread and now this one. Great job!

Thats true[up]. I palnned on doing the angles tips originaly but then i decided it was much easier to just leave them how they were. im sure i will do this eventually

here is the vidoe of mine mic crackeld

why don't embedded codes work any more??

Didn't ride it much before i put the restictors in it but made it go from open header sound to great.

wide open exhaust is great for hp but kill low end torque. Mines a 9 so it was more than a little and noticecable.
I am still letting out 1" per side and the inlet pipe was 2" just forces the muffler to work more

I was seriously considering dishing out the $400 and some for a GB exhaust this winter, but maybe ill run this route and buy the elbow from jardine, and buy the magnaflow muffler. I could definitely do it for less then $200 even with buying tips. [up]

Another thing to think about is if the motor eats it and barfs any oil, that is going to go right into your rear tire- highly recommend the angled tips!

i did the same thing but made a elbow out of a j pipe that i bought at a hotrod shoe and love it. I made some brackets to hold my chin fairing on to. I need to get some tips welded on but i have had zero issue with the exhaust blowing on the tire.

O yea Baal isn't the gb exhaust a ghetto exhaust anyways since its using a car muffler? I did the same thing he did just didnt polish it and saved my self 350 bucks

im not even sure whether i should take offense to that.

I can assure you any 'replica' GB pipe will be no where near the build quality of mine. I take pride in the things i do, and most would claim you get what you pay for...theres a lot more that goes into my builds than polishing it...which i dont even really do. lol!

I believe i have enough happy customers that will attest to the value of my pipe. compare it to any other stainless system and then youll have a good benchmark.

yea it is a great pipe and its probley worth the money but i just didnt have the money to spend. i love the look of the pipe thats why i built one

I would agree with you. I keep thinking about building one on my own, but do realize the value in what you offer. It is a great looking piece and the quality is top notch. That said, the feel of building your own and saving some cash appeals to a lot of us. Personally, I still haven't decided which route to go. Money is always a factor, but so is quality and looks...and the GB has both of those.

dont get me wrong.....im all for people doing things on their own, heck...thats why i did the pipe to begin with. haha

my worry is that someone will associate the 'homemade' GB pipes with my real version. i dont want homemade versions to be associated with what I would build someone. if that makes any sense. lol

As long as you can make the difference worth the price you will have no problem [up]

So whats the big difference between the real GB and my homemade one? other than the angled tips and the clamped jardine downtube and mine welded. o yea and yours is nice and shiny too. doesnt fit the look of my bike though

whats the big difference between the real GB and my homemade one?

I would assume there really isn't a functional difference, but.....

You need to remember not everyone has a smashed up Jardine sitting around for the down pipe, a welder, or even the ability to make one. So that is where the need or want comes along with the price. Figure labor for sure, plus the time to order, ship, and package it all.

Just my view. GB can tell us for sure if is muffler is any different or not as far as the model/housing.
