New Plate Mount

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

the sub-frame of the R is made of Steel, but all the swingarms are aluminum as noted by One.

The subframe on the R is aluminum. I know that for a fact. I had new upper mounts welded on mine when I put it on my Ss.
Steel would be way heavier with that much material.

I was talking about the cheese grater and the tail surrounding it. It also feels like aluminum, correct?

I was reading through the whole post before, and he said something about going to Korea? Perhaps he is still there?

I am back now guys, Korea sucks BTW. I have been really busy at work and at home. I did manage to continue working on the plate mounts (I wouldn't forget about my Buell brothers). I have to leave town again for a couple of weeks or so, but I will get back to them mid July. Sorry to keep everone waitin'

Liked the look and idea was gonna buy 1 from evilxb got tired of waitin so with a case of beer and the help of a friend we made this 1 in about 5hrs. Not perfect but just our prototype. Let me know what ya think at [email protected] or on the thread im startin.

Looks good to me!!

Now can you produce them, back them and give us all a good price?

1. yes we can make more just need some interest
2. been on the bike for a month now with no probs.
3. need input on what its worth
4. thinkin of makin one to give to a member here with good rep. to let me and the others know what they think of it

I know that would freak a cop out, they'd already be looking for a reason for them to pull you over and to see this, whoa buddy. Just a matter of time

Hey guys - I know it has been awhile... I had to take a step back from the project. I had mine on the bike for months and it broke off the other day. I was riding and it bounced around between the wheel and swing arm. If it would have gotten into the wheel... bad things. So I am re-evaluating the design. Mine is steel and pretty heavy - I believe the welds fatigued and broke due to the vibrations and the long moment arm. I may add a rubber isolator to elliminate the vibrations.

Samniam - I would keep an eye on your welds. The risk for reward is a concerm.
