I have spent the evening scrolling through all the info here. Great stuff.

I just bought an '04 XB12R. I have a sportster and a Yamaha Super Tenere. This is my first sport bike. Grew up on the dirt and then had cruisers most of my life. Holy hell are these zippy. Since I had never riden a sport bike I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm located in central Florida, right next to Disney. Would like to meet other riders and learn more about these bikes.

Welcome to the forum. Great looking bolt you've got there. I came from the world of Japanese bikes and European exotics and am amazed time and time again at how much I enjoy this bike every time I ride it. Glad to see you are enjoying it as well.

I'm 6'2" and feel a bit cramped on it, but I suppose that's all part of the feel of a sport bike. The second most fun I've had in an uncomfortable and awkward position.

Welcome. You can get 1 or 2 inch drop pegs for your bike. Might give u a little more room. 1 inch drop are stock lightning pegs.

Welcome! I think I saw that 12R on Craigslist here locally. I am in Sanford on a 09 12R. Did you see the Revival Rally next weekend (6th) in Orlando? Going there on mine to keep the local Buells in the spotlight. Care racers, etc. Should be fun. This forum has been VERY helpful to me to say the least! Happy Thanksgiving!

My pegs already have a 1" drop. I'll get used to the aggressive position. My legs are alright, I just have really long arms so it's tricky to fold under the air stream.

You probably did sewerman. I watched it for over a month. Originally it was way overpriced. He finally came down to $400 under blue book and I nabbed it. I didn't know about that rally. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to make it.

I've been neglecting my other bikes since I got this one. Starting to feel guilty, so I'm going to try to ride today, even though it's a bit nippy. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow! A 2004 Racing Red xb12R Firebolt.....the very machine that hooked me on the Buell Addiction!! I had a similar bike experience( first sportbike, Harley owner) and that Firebolt really got me excited!
The riding position was more than I could conform to, so I found a 2009 xb12scg, and the rest is history.
It's great to hear somebody else's first reaction to the XBs.
Welcome!

Is the scg really layed out that much different? I've never sat on one.

Welcome to the world of buell, it will consume you! Your bike looks like my bikes twin.

Blue XB, I haven't seen an SCG with my own eyes, is it bigger? I finally got mine out on a nice 2 hour ride up to Sugar Loaf Mountain, and by the time I got off I had figured out how to comfortably ride it. Did give me a little crick in my neck. So much fun. The back brake is sluggish. Are they all that soft? I can not lock it up. Not that I would want to, but I wanted to see if it did. It don't...

Ryangt, I have seen pics of bikes like yours. I guess my wheels have been repainted? They aren't metallic. Just bright yellow. It matches my business colors. Best tax deduction I have ever bought.

me likey...I'd like those on my bike, the StarDust Silver are pain to keep clean and polish. hoping someone will trade for black ones or may do something radical with them

Congratulations. I have the exact same bike. 04 XB12R in red. These bikes rock! I suggest taking a mountain trip this spring to really see what this machine can do.

Will,
The SCG( Lightning) models are on the same frame as the Firebolts. They have a different triple tree and higher bars so more of an upright riding position. Also, more seat height options with 3 different seats.
