New turbo header coming together

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Just measured front and rear center line lengths. Front is 17.5" and rear is 16.5".

seems u could get them closer to equal if u rotated the collecter counter clockwise, taking a lil off the front adding to the back... BTW i dont know s^&t about exhaust design just a dumby's observation :D

No prob OldGeezer! It's pretty rare that I get my panties in a wad:) It's nice to hear from someone that knows just what's going on.

Wiggle, you are right that there is plenty of clearance between the header and body parts:)

I see what you are thinking, BuellyBagger. Since equal length primaries are not too critical for my setup I tried to position the collector as tight against the bike as possible and at an angle that would provide a nice path to the turbine inlet. Another goal was to keep the lateral width to a minimum to avoid cornering clearance issues. If I angled the collector more clockwise the exhaust path may have had to stick out more.

I don't think I will ever try to turn this into a kit. The current setup is designed for more power than most would be willing to invest in and requires many other engine modifications. An internal wastegated setup without a boost controller or water injection would be more realistic to sell as a kit since it would cost a bit less to put together. There is a lot of custom fabrication required and I am not equipped to handle production of all that would be required. However, I hope to provide enough information through my website to make a project like this easier for others to try themselves.

Here are the latest teasers of the bike. I still have to finish up the exhaust (finish welds, wastegate leg, and supports), figure a few more little brackets and wrap up wiring.

Where did yov get the merge collector for the header? i need one for the mid pipe im making for my cr

Thanks lvn2wheels!

The collector is from a stock XB12 header. It works great for 1.75" tubing. If you want to buy just a collector take a look at spdexhaust.com or burnsstainless.com. They make really nice exhaust parts.

Ok guess i missed that. Thanks for the links. Btw nice work, looking forward to seeing it on the dyno.
