Hi Guys, just got my first Buell - an 2008 XB12R. I am very excited and I come with questions:

1. I saw a sticky thread for Aftermarker parts, but what about OEM parts? What are our options? My local HD dealer can get Buell parts, but I really like to be able to check prices/pictures online. I found surdyke.com, but they have little to no pics of the parts. Is an HD dealer the only place to buy NEW OEM Buell parts? (yes, I know about ebay/craigslist).

2. Did many of you buy a parts manual? They're expensive. I'm really looking for online "microfiche"/parts lookup website for Buells. Does this exist?

3. The bike is awesome. just had to throw that in!

4. My bike came with a Buell factory racing muffler, but it's white. Did Buell offer different colors of this muffler, or did my owner paint it?

5. I've gathered that my tuning options are EcmSpy for Mono or TunerPro RT. What does an EBR DDFI3 programmable ECM have that I can't do with TunerPro RT?

Thanks for your help!

Yes OEM is the dealer. I did not buy a parts manual if you call Surdyke and tell them what you need they will look it up and give you the part number.

Someone must have painted your muffler because it came bare shinny metal.

If your bike has a race can it may already have a race ECM, you have to take off the front fairing and see. 2008 are alot harder to ECM spy. That's why I just bought a pre programmed ECM.

Let's see some pics!

Will post pics soon.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid the whole call or visit a dealer to ask what the price is of a part. I like to look, research, etc. I'm hoping someone on this forum knows of an online partsfinder, like at Ronnies Harley-Davidson Parts Finder.

Any other advice is appreciated!

1. OEM you can also look at buellsterparts.com or buellparts.net for parts, but they aren't always new.
2. there should be a manual on here somewhere. here is a useful link to keep around.

4. OP painted it.
5. from what i can tell the resident tuning expert is theoctupus. there is also a couple of links in the thread i linked above.

Try americansportbike.com i ordered a few OEM parts from them, there out of california, and i live in northern MN had them in 5 days, and they were great to work with :)

Thanks frito. I found a few parts I need on ebay (ram air scoop). I also ordered a used paper parts manual on ebay so I can look up prices and what not.

For you guys that buy carbon fiber body parts, is it for the looks or for the strength?
