Just purchased a 2001 Buell X1 Lightning, with just under 8,000 miles on it. After riding/working on many old Hondas, I'm very excited for this new addition. I am a DoTheTon member so I hope this forum can help me out as much as that one did!
So expect a lot of questions coming from me soon, as I start working on this sucker :D

welcome... very nice looking X1-

I just recently became a member of the DoTheTon-

good luck with the bike- Any plans or just going to ride it? Looks super clean!

Thanks guys! But yeah it's super clean and mostly stock, but I'm leaning towards a flat track kind of build with it. I'd like to put some xb or even sportster 13 spoke wheels on it, but I'm not sure how that conversion would go, I believe the xb wheels would work with the corrected adapter on the back?

check out my bike in my profile or my website --> http://www.purpony.net/buell.html
Ive had XB wheels on my X1 for 5 or so years. Ive been very happy with the conversion. I do have my XB wheels and tires for sale if interested and they can come with the needed rear adapters. The front can be done a few different ways. Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow Purpony that's a nice build, I'm looking to do something a little similar along the lines of rebuilding the tail section also. But yeah I might be interested in those wheels/conversion pieces, I'm gonna do a little research and see if I can't fit a pair of sportster wheels on it first before I go with the XB wheels.

thanks-

my only thoughts on the sportster wheels is the width of the rear. Im guessing no sportsters came OEM with a rear wheel wider then 3.0", unless you sent it out and had it widened.
