My relay ('09 xb12ss) is different to the first two pictured.
So I thought about it, said "what the heck" and cut the track from pin 7 anyway. Woohoo! it works anyway. Rep point for you cyclic.

Just a FYI to people that don't want to cut their flasher relay, the EP36 flasher that says LED 3-6 Lamps on the relay worked for me ill post a pic of the package when I get home from my vacation. $13 at advance auto parts.

did it! finally installed my led blinkers and attempted this before spending the money on a new flasher. My flasher was not the same as the others on my 08 but I pulled pin 7 and have good results. [up]

hey guys. I can't seem to get this to work on my bike. I have an 04s and i performed the mod just like rudiruez's post on the first page. my led blinkers still don't work...
they just hold a VERY dimly lit light.

I check with a DMM and there is definitely no continuity across the "modified" connection

I thought I may have messed up my relay but, when i throw in an incandescent bulb, they work perfectly.

any ideas?

I know this looks like a rough cut but, All connections are intact (even if they look ugly) and the connection that is supposed to be broken, is broken.

my led blinkers still don't work! The relay acts just as it did before... (it works fine if i hook up an incandescent bulb)

any ideas?

okay, well... I fixed it but, heres a question for you guys...

Are you running LEDs in front AND back? as in, no incandescent bulbs?

in my case, I am.

my two sets of LEDs were not enough to trip even the modified relay. This afternoon I added 2 100 ohm resistors (25W) in parallel. Normally, this would result in fast blinking however, in addition to the modified relay, it was JUST enough to get the system blinking.

So, if you're running ALL LED blinkers, you may need to give your system a little extra "push" to get it going.

anyways, heres what I did.

"2" 100 ohm (25w) resistors wired in parallel. One on each rear blinker.

These leads are famous for breaking off right at the end of the resistor. I'm sure the obnoxious vibration of the xb12 wouldn't help that problem. I did a little "reinforcement".

I know...

I tried a million times to get it embedded. Now for some odd reason I cant edit my post. I'll post up the proper link when i get home.

Cyclic Awesome mod! I did it yesterday on my 07 SS and my wife's 07 Scg, worked great on both. RudiRulez thanks for the detailed pics, I did the mods the way you did. -Baja

Just did the relay mod on my 03 xb9s. Worked great!
I was going to wire in some resistors but this is sooo much easier.
thanks for the tip!

Anyone had the same problem as Burgurboy ? I have 4 led signals coming in the mail, and I'm wondering now if I will have the same problem ... He must not be the only one with 4 led signals [confused]

I'm running LED's all around. It will work fine.

I think he didn't get the right trace cut.
