When I turn on the switch everything goes as normal, but when I hit the ignition switch it does nothing. Doesn't click, grind, or anything. Anyone know what might be going on?

Give fuses a good once over then pull battery and take to Auto parts store - they'll check it Under-Load for free to see if it's bad or on it's way out.

2005 XB9SX, fuses look good and yeah I will take the battery and have it checked, does anyone think that it may be the starter cuase I dont think it is in the fact that it doesnt even try to turn over but Im a new owner and dont know much about it yet besides what the hand book has taught me.

sounds like you arent getting the signal to the starter. check to make sure your stater has the connectors connected and check for melted wires following the wires off the starter. also make sure the ground wire on the starter motor is tight.

well took my battery to have it checked, they said the battery was good but it needed to be charged, any clue to what could be draining my battery? And just to know, if the starter is goin bad will it drain the battery down, or does this mean that my altenator is going out? I'm just frustrated cause I just had to replace the forks cause the guy I bought the bike from "forgot" to mention that they were split.

If you haven't ridden the bike in a while it is normal for the battery to go down slowly. Were you able to get it to start?

Do you hear the starter relay click when you hit the start button? If the battery is charged enough to run the fuel pump you will at the very least hear the starter relay click.

What are you talking about the kill switch connections, and if the indicators are the lights on the dash panel then they all come on as normal

I ain't got the battery back yet they said it would take a couple hours to charge but when I rode it yesterday it started right up, when I stopped in town and went to start it back up it took me about 5 min to get it to crank but no clicking

It primes but when I hit the ignition it does nothing.

What are you talking about the kill switch connections

on your bike's right handlebar, just above the ignition switch, there is a kill switch, also known as an engine cut-off switch. You may need to remove the casing on the bars and check the wiring that is connected to it, as well as to the ignition switch. Wires may be cut, or melted.

Obviously this isnt a Buell, but serves the same purpose.

That red switch is the cut off/ kill switch

How new are you to riding? I am not trying to challenge your intelligence, but is the bike in Neutral when you try to start it? if not, is the clutch pulled in? check the basics first.

Ok thats what I thought you was talkin about just didnt know if there was a kill switch that was factory installed on the motor...and I got the how to start part pretty good used to ride dirt bikes ...understand where your commin from though there are some out there that don't know that....anyone think that it could be the solenoid?

I had been riding for 7 years when I had a complete brain fart one day. I had just bought my track bike (CBR 600RR)I tried to start the bike early one morning, but it wouldnt turn at all, the lights were all on, and the instrument panel lit up... I had left the kill switch on from the day prior, and that is why it wouldnt start. It is very possible I was still half asleep as this was at 5 in the morning, but it was the last thing I was thinking of.

anyway, back on topic... I dont think it is the stator or it would still turn over unless your battery was completely dead. it may be the solenoid, but I would think more along the lines of wire damage from the starter.

It was the neutral switch sensor...it had went bad so rewired it and cranks fine now but neutral light stays on.
