Lots of knowledge on this board maybe someone can help.

My wife dumped her Suzuki dr200 in a 2 foot deep puddle. Was actually pretty funny to watch.

However, Once I dug it out, it would not start. it does turn over tho. I know I need to change the plug, oil and prob air filter. I assume it should start after changing these items.

Anything else I should do since it was completely submerged?

thanks

Remove the drain plug on carb and make sure all the water is out of the bowl. If the engine did not inhale any water that should fix it.

To be safe drain all fluids and spark plug and turn it over with kick start or if it is electric start just bump it a few time in case water is above piston.

Replace plug and fluids you should be good to go. Not speaking from experience but that is what I would do first.

Also here is a good link

You have pretty much covered what to get done. Now you have to teach yor wife how to get thru the water. Good luck and enjoy the ride!

Thanks

I did give her a hard time about it. I only wish my Gopro hadn't run out before it happened.

you should keep a sparkplug, on you when out riding and the min tools to change it ,the carb bowl and to ring out the filter. That way you can be up and riding in minutes :)

I will definitely be putting together a small kit, that I will take with me in the future. I guess we've been lucky and never had any probs in the past.

one other thing.
my klxr400 was new when it would not start after getting in deep mud/water. i found out the carb vent tube under the bike was blocked with mud.
