Quietest Helmet

i was going to ask a similar question...hope im not hijacking, but, i've tried like 3 diff helmets, all feel the same to me. is there a real advantage to a shoei compared to a bell or something like that? a good Bell helmet is 200, a good Shoei is like 600 what's that advantage?

I looking for one quiet enough for cell phone use.
My Nemesis is not, at normal riding speed.

I have owned many helmets and just bought a new Bell Star. They have been down for a while but this helmet is awesome. Probably the best I have ever owned, even the Shoei. Also helps that it fits my fat round bald head perfectly.

Just be carefull you don't get wrapped up in a conversation and loose track of the cars and road around you.. easy to do

If most riders hate cagers that talk and drive, I think support for a rider that talks and drives will be less than stellar.

Try one of these.

I understand what you mean, but I just need a quiet helmet. My bike has stock exhaust, I personally don't like loud obnoxious bikes, well at least now that I'm grown anyway. Talk on cell phones in cars is only legal with a hands free device. I do like to listen to music when I ride and my phone does a great job at that, just want to be able to answer a call. Not out to call radio talk shows or order a pizza. Sorry if I offended anyone. Love the site, thanks for all the help.

we just like our brothers and sisters on 2 wheels to be as safe as possible man...
be aware, be alive
catchy eh?
;)

If that wasn't a $30,000 bike, I would like to have one of the Gold Wings as well!

I have a open airbox with a voodoo pipe and I can easily talk on my Cardo Q2 mounted on my Shoei RF-1000

If you check out SHOEI try the newer RF-1100, its a great helmet and very little wind noise, and great airflow, I really like the feel at high speed it doesnt want to lift. and my plain black one only cost 310.00 about a month ago, i think shoei had a sale.

+1 on the whole "Don't phone and ride at the same time" argument....

+10 on the emphasis that the helmet you should wear is the one that offers the best protection you can afford... and fit is a close 2nd behind this rule.

as for the difference between a $200 Bell and a $600 Shoei, well the only way to answer that is to try both of them... you'll find that the key differences are in the impact ratings and weight. The Shoei is generally going to offer the same or better protection but will be lighter and likely have better aerodynamic design. (that means less buffeting in the wind at 75)

Lastly... for a good place to start looking for a quieter helmet... I would look at this article. It will give you some good comparisons of different helmets (you may even find yours in their list to have a good idea of how they stack up).
look at all of the helmets that are quieter than yours, consider adding a wind curtain to the bottom, find a few that have good protection ratings, see which one fits best and will fit your budget best...

Okay, like it or not, he JUST asked about the quietest helmet. If he wants to listen to tunes or confab with oprah....... that's his Choice....
Me, I like the sound of the road and the bike, that's my Nirvana.....
Others....... do what you need......
I am a firm believer in a $10 head = a $10 helmet... If you choose to wear the gear, wear the best you can get, and if you're gonna ride, ride the best you can...
Life is full of distractions, deal with them the best you can.
Ride On..
Cheers:D

How many of u have actually researched, tried on, or even seen a Bell Star in person?

Money(the most expensive) does not always equal the best product

You pay for what u get holds true for some things but not all
