I have looked into them and want a silver contra. The only reason I have a shoei is because nobody had one when I was ready to order.

The bell star is about $430 on sale. It's premo price in my eyes. It's no X-12 but it's far from a sparx

Delta... a comfortable, snug fitting helmet will be the one you want. If you can test ride at speed all the better. There's a lot of friggin' choice out there,,,, it's kinda like shoes, wear what fits and suits you best...

You are 100% correct; but I am a helmet whore :p

shark RSR2 furtif
shoei RF-1100 diabolic
scorpion EXO-700 burst

maybe a bell too, I don't need it but I am always looking for a better lid. I have never been able to try before I buy. Well not at speed anyway, my RF is not all I had hoped it would be so I keep looking at others as possable additions. They all fit properly but each has it's ups and downs.

The shoei should be the quietest but isn't due to a whistle in the vents. This is my loudest helmet.

the shark has tons of airflow but lacks refinement it is currently my most quiet helmet.

the scorpion was a great bang for the buck lid but some parts seem cheep and it's not that quiet but I don't normally hear it while on MY bike.

If I can hear a whistle or rush of air over my D&D it's significant volume.

I have the scorpion EXO900. I like it because with I can open the face to get on easier, however I think it has too much wind noise. Since I have it, I can now compare it to others and go from there. It was a great buy and being someone that never wore a full face helmet before, only a scull cap on my HD, it seemed light enough and priced well to start. Love this thread, thought I was the only one out there looking for a quieter helmet. [up]

Thanks for all the input. Now I will add my last two cents worth. The best most expensive helmet you get won't keep you from getting your head severed, so use your head so you don't lose it!

I just got a really good deal on a Scorpion EXO700. I also have an Icon Mainframe and a Buell Streetflame. Comfort wise, the Icon takes it. Quiet wise, the Scorpion has it. The Scorpion also moves alot more air through the helmet which I like. Some other great things about the Scorpion is that all the liners are removable, the visor comes fog-free standard (and truly is fog-free), and is not a plastic shelled helmet. Go to the following link, the do great reviews on helmets. Also, the Bell Star gets a great review from them.
