I posted this on another forum, thought you guys might enjoy it.

i have to say something......

all you guys who ride japanese literbikes are ******* insane......like clinically insane......like tightrope-without-a-net-insane

proof: So Bike's, Blues, and BBQ is here this weekend and I went and demo'd a 2012 Yamaha R1. Now, until today, the bike's I had ridden consisted of a softail, sportsters, vtx's, my old v-star 650, and my buell xb9r, and some dirtbikes (as far as I can remember). Granted, none of those are performance motorcycles, but many of them had decent acceleration (or so I thought).
Immediately, I noticed how "rev-happy" the bike was.....throttle response was off the charts. For the 1st half of the ride, I don't think I shifted out of 1st gear.....the revs just kept going, and going, and going. When we got to the straights and the ride-leader "got on it", so did I.......and wow! Now, let me just say, I weigh a scant 225 on low-gravity days, so I am adding significant W bringing down the power/weight ratio. But ****, I swear I lifted the front tire off the ground every time I shifted (totally on accident, I hate doing wheelies, honestly) and the thing about ripped my head off my neck. Rolling wheelies?!?! are you ******* kidding me? So.....when we got to the interstate.....I tucked forward and really got on it.......VRRRRROOOOOOOOM, shift, VRRRROOOOOOOOM, shift, VRRRROOOOOO---------holy **** I'm going over 90 in 3rd gear!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!-------throttle down.............well, that was a fast 4 seconds. The whole time I was thinking: "The motoGP guys have bikes that are faster, lighter, lighter riders, and they are under full acceleration..............OMG, **** THAT! I think I would pass out doing what they do." After I got back to the Yamaha tent, I thought: "Before I bought my Buell, I had a chance to get a CBR1000RR and I passed." In hind sight, THANK GOD! because I wouldn't be here typing this post today if I had. Seriously, those bikes are.........I'm at a loss for words.......stupid? ridiculous? death machines? chariots of the gods that most gods would be scared to ride? no good descriptive word comes to mind.

So, to summarize.......you guys that ride japanese literbikes are lunatics who lack the basic human instinct of self-preservation.......may God have mercy on your souls as you fly past the pearly gates at 160mph in a flaming ball of metal pieces and flesh.

That is all.

Just because the bikes go that fast doesn't mean you have to top it out. I know that's easier said that done. Could it also be the cranking your used to doing on the twins didnt mesh right away with the powerband on the inline 4.
I mean on my 12, I never grab a fist full off the line because she just gets unruly but once she gets rolling, I can get a little crank happy wishing for more revs at the top end. Get a bike that piles it on by the boat load when I'm cranking away like that and i'd imagine it would take me by by surprise too.

lmao 180 really isnt that fast once you get use to it.
crash at a buell top speed or an r1 and you will most likely wind up at the same place, the morgue.i would like to see the response from the other forum.[up]

I say stop bitchin about others choices. Its better then buying a fast bike and doing nothing with it. Just like buying a zr1 and only driving it on sunday... around town. Its a waste and is actually worse for the vehicle. I agree there is a place and time for everything. But who cares if someone decides to go fast with their bike thats ment to be fast...

I thought it was funny :D
I want a japliter bike. I will never part with my XB12s as long as I live, but that doesn't mean I can't get a holyshit bike too.

Hard to tell expression in text. I got the gist. I agree too, they're stupid fast. I've been riding around on my buddies 2011 Repsol CBR, and I'm really entertaining the idea of selling the Lightning and snagging a CBR (I apologize if I've just offended anyone). I love my XB12S, but I might be changing it up.

They are holly **** fast, and way more bike than 90% of riders can use as designed. Every few days I switch up bikes to ride from the shop. ZX10 (awesome machine) CBR1000RR (A bit less throttle response down low) GSXR 750 and 1000, and an R1. All ******* ridiculously fast. Now an R6 or GSXR600 are very fine machines that are way more suited for most riders, and the 750 GSXR is probably one I could live with for a long time.

Nothing wrong with that, just ride I say. At least when people talk smack about Buells you'll have a proper reference point for argument.
