I posted this on another forum, thought you guys might enjoy it.
i have to say something......
all you guys who ride japanese literbikes are ******* insane......like clinically insane......like tightrope-without-a-net-insane
proof: So Bike's, Blues, and BBQ is here this weekend and I went and demo'd a 2012 Yamaha R1. Now, until today, the bike's I had ridden consisted of a softail, sportsters, vtx's, my old v-star 650, and my buell xb9r, and some dirtbikes (as far as I can remember). Granted, none of those are performance motorcycles, but many of them had decent acceleration (or so I thought).
Immediately, I noticed how "rev-happy" the bike was.....throttle response was off the charts. For the 1st half of the ride, I don't think I shifted out of 1st gear.....the revs just kept going, and going, and going. When we got to the straights and the ride-leader "got on it", so did I.......and wow! Now, let me just say, I weigh a scant 225 on low-gravity days, so I am adding significant W bringing down the power/weight ratio. But ****, I swear I lifted the front tire off the ground every time I shifted (totally on accident, I hate doing wheelies, honestly) and the thing about ripped my head off my neck. Rolling wheelies?!?! are you ******* kidding me? So.....when we got to the interstate.....I tucked forward and really got on it.......VRRRRROOOOOOOOM, shift, VRRRROOOOOOOOM, shift, VRRRROOOOOO---------holy **** I'm going over 90 in 3rd gear!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!-------throttle down.............well, that was a fast 4 seconds. The whole time I was thinking: "The motoGP guys have bikes that are faster, lighter, lighter riders, and they are under full acceleration..............OMG, **** THAT! I think I would pass out doing what they do." After I got back to the Yamaha tent, I thought: "Before I bought my Buell, I had a chance to get a CBR1000RR and I passed." In hind sight, THANK GOD! because I wouldn't be here typing this post today if I had. Seriously, those bikes are.........I'm at a loss for words.......stupid? ridiculous? death machines? chariots of the gods that most gods would be scared to ride? no good descriptive word comes to mind.
So, to summarize.......you guys that ride japanese literbikes are lunatics who lack the basic human instinct of self-preservation.......may God have mercy on your souls as you fly past the pearly gates at 160mph in a flaming ball of metal pieces and flesh.
That is all.
