Riding and the bike just shut down

So I went out for a quick ride today on my 03 xb9r. The bike just shut down. After coasting over a bunch of bumps I got it to restart. Didn't last long though. The issue I'm having is that when you turn the key on it seems like the battery is low most of the time. But then other times it will turn the fuel pump on. I'm leaning towards a short somewhere. My question for everyone is what do you know about the wire mapping from the battery to everything. If someone has a link to a wire map that might help a lot

before you jump to the "has to be a short somewhere" conclusion....try the below:
1- confirm battery is in tip top shape
2- confirm battery terminals and cable ends are squeaky clean and tightly secured to each other with CORRECT hardware.
3-your 2003 should have sidestand safety interlock switch. confirm it is working. you can bypass by jumping its 2 connector plug wires as it is a simple on/off direct circuit button switch.
4-with key on and red run switch in run position....wiggle main wiring harness at steering neck area. any changes in pump tone or gauge needles? if so that is where the wiring gremlin lurks.
5-remove fusebox lid and flip over. study schematic. see the key switch and ignition blade fuses? both are 15 amp blade fuses. remove both, inspect closely...if blades corroded replace.
report back with findings. i would also note that your bike is now 13 years old and may have an ignition switch flaring up. easy to diagnose as with key in switch and switch on....wiggling and light twisting of key typically triggers a problem on a worn switch.

^^^^^^ That guy Jake ,it don't get any better then that. Once again well written by John and he will not steer you wrong. Straight from the Buell whisperer! :D

Well I'm going out to mess with it today. I was also thinking the ignition could be an issue too. The side stand is already bypassed. What gets me is that when it does want to work it has more than enough power to run the pump and crank it over

Update... put a different battery in it, fired right up. Tested the old battery and it tests OK. So my issue must be in the battery or the connections.. thanks for the input so far. Also no I don't have a service manual. I had one downloaded on my phone but that got deleted accidentally. That's why I asked if someone had a link to a good manual
