Finally took the pic today. If I didn't say so before. I really like the way it looks on there. [cool]

Has anyone had problems with the scoop melting or warping from the heat off the header?

only happened a few times out of hundreds...these were fixed for free.

ok, all requested quotes have been successfully sent...turns out my wifi router was fried.

Ordered mine last night and I can't wait for it to get here. I'll take some pictures and post them when it gets here. Kudos to Lefox for helping all of us!!!:)[up]

I don't want to rain on anyones parade here but if you ride in the hotter weather you might have some heating issue. When the air is flowing in the left and right side at the same time you are trapping air in between the two cylinders allowing nowhere for the air to escape.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The fan will flow the "trapped" air on through.

Great, but what about when the fan isn't running? Most folks running a RSS say their fans run less frequently, indicating that the RSS might help cooling. However, the static air pocket theory, if true, would mean that the RSS actually reduces overall cooling. In that case, the RSS would be more of a cosmetic upgrade, rather than functional.

Does anyone have empirical evidence (like measured temps) that the RSS enhances cooling?

ok...think this...

1) if there is an air pocket, that pocket keeps getting fresh air, so that pocket gets cooled thanks to the scoops.

2) this rh scoop (not talking for brands) is shaped to cool the rear cylinder, not the front or the gap in between the cylinders.

3) if it would create more heat, wouldn't your fan run even more?

but all things aside, it's a cosmetic upgrade that has other advantages (like less fan activity).
it does not solve the cause of the heat or the fact that the fan is blowing more than it needs too, but it does help reduce the symptoms.

it's like when you have a headache, you take an aspirin. it doesn't solve the cause of the headache but it does reduce the pain ;)
