Beam me up Scotty !

Glad to see HD is building some exciting new bikes, but I'd never spend $30k for one...holy cow! Could buy 2-3 other new bikes for that same money and be ready for any kind of riding. As for the phone, John...I'd love it if it were a flip phone! I'm a Trekkie and always loved how the old flip phones looked like communicators. :D And, I hardly ever actually use all the features of my iPhone. I like my phones like my bikes...without a lot of computer extras.

But yeah 30k for an electric sportster with a 100 mile range, f#@k that!

Right now a Sportster is 1/2 that for about the same range. Even my Roadster with the 3.5 gal "walnut" tank, only gets about 125 miles to a tank.

As much as I dig electric bikes and cars, and electric "Harley" doesnt float my boat. They may be better off creating a new brand (or bringing back an old brand) to carry the electric torch (or LED light).

electric torch (or LED light).
nice one.

The range wouldn't bother me if it charged in say 30 mins. Ya know long enough to grab a beer and a burger. I'm no iron butt rider, 100 miles between stops is fine. I was really hoping it'd be about 15k. And depreciate like it fell off a cliff so I could pick up a cheap used one!

I'm sure electric motorcycles will have depreciation problems for awhile. The technology is moving so fast and improving so drastically, that the next years model will likely walk all over the previous one.

The rumble of the exhaust note and all of the other tactile sensations of riding a gas powered bike is part of the allure to me. Riding a whisper quiet and silky smooth bike doesn't appeal to me.

EV companies are promising big improvements in battery tech and price, but I guess only time will tell. The progress has been a bit on the slow side since 2010 though. That $30K price tag Harley put on there, may actually be real.
