So is there a lot more practical information in the paperback service manual (and electrical) than the pdf version? Useful info for work such as changing the headers etc... ? Bike is 08 Lightning.

Also, even more important, where to buy online in europe?

Thanks!

J

I bought a manual because I don't have a computer in the shop. I also like to have a hardcopy in my hands. Most of the information will be the same but if you ever have to delve into the motor then you will need a manual for your year. Just my .02

it does have a lot of useful information. i only have one bec i got it for free. i havent come across an 08 service manual online. and if you have one in a pdf you can print it, thats what i did.

as far as removing headers it will tell you how but people have posted valuable information on here for free that requires less work to accomplish many of the same tasks. i would hold off until you need it. i find its useful for wiring diagrams and doing things im not familiar with like transmission work, which i havent had to do.

ok, sounds like I'm gonna get one. What's the diagnostic manual, it's not the same as electrical manual? well, think I'm gonna start with the service manual and see how far it gets me.

Previous to owning this buell I had no clue how an engine operates (with gas, duh!), soon found I was almost more keen to fiddleing with the bike than riding ;) I guess it's the fun of learning new shit! Well, /sweet blog

For the 2008+ model, you can get 3 factory service manuals:
1) Service Manual
2) ECM/electrical diagnostic manual
3) Parts Book

The Service Manual is the most important by far. The electrical manual has some good stuff in it, but honestly is not necessary for the average rider. The parts book is just a convenience, since you can get the same info for free from a dealer :)

I have a 2010xbs manual. ill post pics of any info needed by anyone if asked. too much work to make the whole book .pdf though.

I have an '06 12X and an '09 XT and have all of the manuals (parts and service) for both so I have a library of the damned things - worth every single cent.

My maintenance on fork oil and fork seals alone has saved more than the purchase price of the manuals.

Because I am an electrical guy I do use that manual for the '09 but agree it is probably unnecessary for the average rider.
