got the clutch pack and stator off, but the transmission sprocket won't budge, sprayed wd-40, heated it up and using a cordless impact gun, breaker bar with a pipe on it for extra leverage and nothing. it's in gear and rear brake held down...any suggestions?

got the engine removed from the frame, starter, headers, throttle body and cylinder heads are off. that's it for today, will split the case tomorrow, clean everything up and get parts on order afterwards. time to get ready for work...the night shift sucks, 1730-0200:p

I had the nearly the same problem with my 06 ss. I had to tap down on the the shifter first to upshift and sometimes it wouldn't go past 3rd gear at all for awhile. It sucked really bad going down the freeway stuck in 3rd at about 5500 rpms, or maybe it was second gear. Anyway it always did it when it got hot but shifted perfect when cold. The fix was to change the tranny fluid. I didn't change it at first because the guy I bought it from said he just changed the oil so I figured he changed the primary fluid as well but I guess he didn't or he used the wrong fluid. I put in redline 20w50 vtwin full synthetic oil in the primary and it immediately started shifting better. After about 20 miles it was perfect and I've never had the problem come back. The bike had 10, 000 miles on it when I got and I think the previous owner might not have ever changed the tranny fluid just the engine oil.
So maybe my problem was stuck shift plates from old or incorrect fluid? It could be your problem as well?

recently did the oil/primary change when I did the top end gasket/seal replacement...

so got the pinion nut(crank shaft) off using two 15/16" deep sockets on either side of the cases, can't get the gear to come off, the manual states simply pull it off, yeah right, not without a puller, how are you guys removing it?

got it off finally, the red loctite had a grip on it...anyway got the forks out, which didn't look all that bad with some scoring on them, dogs didn't have anything markings at all...front and rear of each fork

shift cam was not damaged at all

anyone know if the engine overhaul kit listed in the parts catalog has everything needed for the entire engine or do I have to get the top end kit also or is there a better kit out there? and what's best for sealing the case halves? and what are you guys using to remove the neutral switch, that's pretty dang tight to get a regular socket around it.

does anyone know the size socket to remove the neutral switch? can't get my caliper in there to get a measurement, besides I'll probably have to grind down the walls of the socket to get it on there, cause she's tight:D

for an '03 9s...need part numbers for either james or cometic cylinder base gaskets and also what's best to seal case halves with?
