You know what I'm talking about...

So couple days ago I'm in busy traffic and pull up to stop at a traffic light. I'm in the right lane and a car pulls up in the left lane to the side of me. Out of my peripheral vision through my helmet, a guy hangs out of the passanger window and yells, "dude, your bike is as sick as F%@K!". When I don't respond, kind of ignore him, not to be rude but not really knowing where people's minds are at or what they are going to do, he yells, YO!". Light changes green and I ride off and I'm taking a right when I get to the intersection anyway...as I do I'm thinking, I guess I could have given him a thumbs up at least...

Today, stop for gas and at the pump, a guy comes up and asks me, "is that a Buell?" He's looking the bike all over and was real curious about the catch can and filter on the breather re-route so I explain it all to him...asked me a number of other questions.

Recently riding on the main four lane highway through a nearby small town past a local little restaraunt that is frequented by "bikers"...I'm coming up the highway and as I'm approaching to pass by this chick out front does a huge double take - maybe a triple take - I know she thought she heard a hog and looked up and saw a sport bike...I know she was like...wait...what???

So what are your experiences with this phenomenon? The responses and affects our hot Buells have on people. Tell us your stories...

I once had a guy walk up and ask what kind of bike it was. My reply: It's a Buell.
he responded: "yeah I told my girl it was Italian"

^ now that's funny. Did you correct him on that? I mean it says "American Motorcyces" right on it.

So far people have only commented that mine looks like a piece of shit.... Because.... Well...... It does at the moment... But I'm well on my way to changing that...

I was sitting waiting to turn right on to a pretty busy road and a car drove by honking and waving at me so I waved back. Thinking I might know them I turn and speed up to catch them and it turns out I dont. They wave at me again. Guy in driver seat and woman in passenger seat both of college age. Now the 2 lanes went to 5. Two left turn lanes, two straight, and a right turn lane. Im in the left lane at the red light to go straight and this car is in the right turn lane. All of a sudden i see her lean over the driver from two lanes away and yell out his window "Hey!...Wanna f*&k!?" And the driver embarrassed at the comment rolls the windows up and then back down after she is obviously telling him to. I look around and several people with their windows down were laughing. I nodded and put my hand up to my helmet and made a phone call gesture, and she held up her phone like she wanted to. I have no idea how either one of us were supposed to actually move forward from that point and if she was actually serious or not. About that time the light turned green and we went our separate ways. Nothing came of it other than it was the funniest encounter Ive had on my bike yet. As far as I could tell she was quite attractive, as well as not afraid to yell obscenities in public. Whether she was serious or not it sounds like a winning combo.

Yesterday I had a kid ask me what kind of bike I had at a stoplight and where he could get one of them haha. I told him it doesn't really look like a regular buell and he insisted on wanting one just like mine.[smirk]

Last fall I had a cop pull up to a stop light by me..rolled down his window and said nice bike! Rev it up! Hahaha long story short-I saw him around campus now and then and he always threw me a thumbs up [up]

Earlier last year I had a typical situation turn kind of odd, I was cruising the main drag doing about 40mph when a crotch rocket flies by me doing upwards of 60 (in a 35) so I just let him go thinking he was going to get pulled over. I catch up to him a little farther down the road and lifted up his visor, gave me a thumbs up and said "I haven't seen a Buell in ages, looks good man!" and sped off after that.

I passed my cousin on a double yellow line in his truck after I routed my exhaust to dump to the right in my hometown (before the scrutiny, it was always a passing zone growing up and the had just recently changed it) it's a long straight away that had the locals complain about passing vehicles. Just my luck a cop came around the corner just in time to spot me. He asked me "you couldn't just wait?"
After explaining the situation he made me start it up and give him a few revs.

After complimenting me and telling me just to wait next time, we parted ways.

Yeah, they do get some attention for sure. Can't say I've yet gotten Kona's offers tho. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

The first time I ever rode mine I pulled up to a gas station and got off, two guys walked up to me, one of them asked me; "Cool bike man, what is that?" and the other one responded to him "It's a Ducati, they're Italian". I just laughed and responded "It's a Buell. It's made in Wisconsin".

Of all the comments/reactions I've gotten one of my favorites was the guy that test rode my bike after putting new tires on it. He said it felt like it didn't even have a frame, just a big-ass motor and wheels.

I was also told recently that my bike "sound's like it's going to eat the world" which I thought was pretty funny.

^now that's funny. Did you correct him on that? I mean it says "American Motorcyces" right on it.

haha No I guess I should have. Instead I just left him thinking otherwise. It was right after I got the bike and it seemed everyone wanted to jaw about 2 wheelers. I just wanted to roll. I still enjoy telling the story. LOL
Thnx for sharing yours btw-

^ that was so the Buell that had that effect...
Lol I wasnt claiming any of it. Although lets be honest... the dark smoke shield and black motorcycle jacket make me look like a BA...hahaha [cool]

Next time Ill have to follow up better. Maybe use hand signals for my phone digits or something. I think im doing something wrong when I have that story, but then have the same end result as you. [smirk]

I always have a pen and paper handy in my inside jacket pocket... OR you could get fancy shmancy and make cards...

That is great negative ...I think having pre-made cards might send the wrong message although if you were to do that be sure to include the additional line.

A guy asked me once, "who makes it?" I said buell. And he goes "well ya but who actually makes it?" ...Some people
